10. of, for, or attracting a small group of devotees: a cult movie.
According to dictionary.com, EVERY religion, including CHristianity, is a cult.
The reason Evangelical preachers call us a cult, is because their defintion is
"That group down the street that I don't believe and don't like, that I want others to fear and hate as much as I do". They get that knee-jerk reaction of "OMG!! A CULT!! Something needs to be DONE!"
But, $ometime$ I think that the real rea$on i$, that the LDS church doe$ not have paid clergy, and if we are the truth, then tho$e pa$tor$ would have to give up their livelihood. Some of them are sincerely Christian, but there are other$ who are really $itting pretty.

I say that Mormons need to be redeemed, as well as to come out of the cult of Mormonism.

I think if he were secure in his own beliefs he wouldn't be looking to bash others.
The bishop of my diocese recently told us of a conference he attended in Utah. He decided to go visit the local Mormons. The "big" center. It was difficult to get in. Even your "average" Mormon is not allowed in.
He told us it is important to love them. And to try to understand them. To understand does not mean to agree. We can understand where someone is coming from but not agree with them.
THAT is Christianity at its best.

Well, I guess it was inevitable the day would come that I would agree with an evangelical pastor.

And what did Jesus say when His disciples showed this attitude?
38 ¶ And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40 For he that is not against us is on our part.
41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

Why oh why have you caused me to agree with a Christian? LOL
Yes, in many ways they are a cult. From the hierarchy of the church, to the secrecy of their "paganish" ceremonies, to the abnormally high level of brainwashing of members, to the recruitment and retention of members, etc.

Yes, they are a cult following a false gospel brought by an "angel."
Galatians 1:8 But even if we, OR AN ANGEL FROM HEAVEN, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
