Apparently PETA is against people breeding domestic animals.. And have posted this statement...

Wayne Pacelle, President, Humane Society of America: "One generation and out. We have no problems with the extinction of domestic animals."

Ingrid Newkirk, President, PETA: "For one thing, we would no longer allow breeding. . If people had companion animals in their homes, those animals would have to be refugees from the animal shelters and the streets. .. eventually, companion animals would be phased out, and we would return to a more symbiotic relationship-- enjoyment at a distance."

PETA and HSUS are leading the "Mandatory Spay/Neuter" and breed-ban legislation movements.

The FDA thinks that perhaps this petfood recall, the petfood poisoning, was done intentionally..

I have heard that it's suspected that PETA has done this intentionally, in order to help them w/ their crusade to stop the breeding of domestic animals.. Anyone else hear this or any idea if it might be true?

"We at PETA very much love the animal companions who share our homes, but we believe that it would have been in the animals' best interests if the institution of "pet keeping"—i.e., breeding animals to be kept and regarded as "pets"—never existed. The international pastime of domesticating animals has created an overpopulation crisis; as a result, millions of unwanted animals are destroyed every year as "surplus." This selfish desire to possess animals and receive love from them causes immeasurable suffering, which results from manipulating their breeding, selling or giving them away casually, and depriving them of the opportunity to engage in their natural behavior. Their lives are restricted to human homes where they must obey commands and can only eat, drink, and even urinate when humans allow them to." Yes it is true. They want to put an end to pets. They want to put a end to us eating meat, drinking milk and eating eggs. They want us not to use any thing medical that as been tested on animals, of corse this dose not go for them they can use animal tested meds all they want. Newkirk used it when she had cancer and her VP use insulin that comes from pigs. I wpuld not put it past PETA to have caused the pet food crisis. They have no troble killing animals, they kill 90% of all the animals they take in at thier shelter. PETA and HSUS and groups like them are evil. They back canidates to help with passing pet laws to by pass our rights to have pets, just look at the LouisvilleKy pet law.

When I heard about the recall, this was before they found the melamine, my first thought was that it was intentional, and the first culprit to come to mind PETA. This was when they were thinking it was rat posion.

With the connections PETA has, I still wouldn't doubt if they had some part in it. Yes the contamination of melamine is coming from China.

But lets look at this.

Rice protein and wheat gluten is more valuable with a high protein content.
Melamine will show up as a protein.
By "spiking" the rice protein and wheat gluten with melamine, you give the appearance of a higher protein content.
Now you can sell your product for a higher price.

Who's to say PETA didn't call up the producers of these two products.

Maybe the conversation went something like this.

PETA: Hey supplier we've found some information that will help you sell your products for a higher profit.
(everyone likes money right?)

Supplier: Oh yeah, what's that?

PETA: If you spike the rice protein and wheat gluten with this melamine stuff, it'll have a higher protein content. As you know that makes the product more valuable.

Supplier: Yes we know the higher protein product sells a for a higher price. Would there be any problems with adding the melamine to boost protein content?

PETA: Nah, no problem, perfectly fine. It works for everyone. The products get more protein, you get more money, its win win for everyone.

Supplier: Thanks for the tip.

PETA: No problem, have a nice day.

*PETA person hangs up the phone with an evil laugh. Says to fellow PETA members in room. "Mwuahahaha, our plan to get rid of companion animals is now under way. We'll call it Operation Posion Pets."

Second PETA member: "Great, and no one will ever be the wiser. Dog and cat food companies are so large, and consumers are stupid. No one will ever make the connection between dead pets, and food."

Ok, so I'm bored, but yeah. I don't put anything past that organization anymore.

At the very least, I do believe the contamination was intentional, whether by PETA or the product manufacturers. It just makes sense based on the facts stated earlier.

Yep. Ironic, isn't it, all those pet-lovers sending money to a group that wants to take their pets away.

>>>I have heard that it's suspected that PETA has done this intentionally, in order to help them w/ their crusade to stop the breeding of domestic animals.. Anyone else hear this or any idea if it might be true? <<<

That was my very first thought when I heard the food had been contaminated.

>>>I don't think that PETA would have contanimated the food b/c then they would be harming a lot of innocent animals, isn't that what they are against?<<<

They kill animals daily. Check out the story on PetaKillsAnimals about their employees being caught rounding up animals from vets and shelters, promising to find homes for them, then killing them before even leaving town and dumping them in dumpsters behind a supermarket. PeTA didn't think there was anything wrong with that, except for the inappropriate dumping.

That is very unsettling to think. I don't think that PETA would have contanimated the food b/c then they would be harming a lot of innocent animals, isn't that what they are against?

I can see their stance on preventing breeding b/c breeding does contribute to an overpopulation, however, so does those who do not spay and nuter their pets and then they go make whoopie with the neighbors dogs, and then the neighbor surrenders the puppies to the humane society. PETA wants to find a means to an end of the surplus of animals in shelters given that a lot of them end up being youthanized b/c they cannot find a home for them and staying in the shelter can lead an animal to become violent.

However, I do not believe that they will ever reach their goal of preventing breeding like they discussed.

I've read this quote from Ingrid Newkirk a few times now. I get where she's coming from actually, but I think she's misguided. She isn't taking into account the fundamental bond humans feel with animals - it's existed for thousands of years, and she isn't going to be able to stop people keeping animals as companions. It's taking animal rights to an extreme really - a bad extreme. We have to promote responsible pet ownership, not just stamp out the practice altogether.

I hadn't heard the theory that PETA might be responsible for the petfood recall. I have to say, sounds like a bit of a wild theory to me, probably started by anti-PETA enthusiasts. For one thing, the source of the problem was in chinese factories - unless PETA actually had members as employees in the factories (possible I suppose) this would've been fairly hard to pull off. Also, I would imagine their are more effective ways of killing off the pet population, given that this one hasn't really worked at all.

I don't agree with the fundamental principles of PETA, I think they ignore some rather important facts about humans and animals. I can't say I believe they're responsible for the petfood recall though - if they were I think it's time to become very afraid of their power.

I have never heard this, but it is insane! Sometimes PETA doesn't do anything except cause problems. The say their intentions are in the best interest of the animals, but their actions don't always prove this.

I do not believe that this will ever happen. There is no way something will be passed that would stop all domestic animal breeding.

The idea that the contamination of the pet food being on purpose is interesting and very possible. I hope we eventually find out if it was an attack on our precious animals and they find out who committed this act.

Thanks for the info.

It wouldn't surprise me. PETA is absolutely nuts. There was a very obnoxious PETA member at the last conformation show that I went to, and he was going around preaching how cruel it is to show dogs and have dogs in general. According to him they are "wild animals" and they should be "released back to their habitat". I though it was complete BS, because if I turned my French Bulldogs loose they wouldn't last a week but to PETA that isn't as cruel as me having them. It just doesn't make sense. Also, PETA members have been going to shows and turning the dogs loose. The guy that was at the last show got kicked out for turning loose a dozen dogs, but luckily none of the dogs were harmed.

I am not a big fan of the HSUS, but they are not as wacky ad PETA (yet).

<~ Proud member of the other PETA
(people eat tasty animals)

With a little investigative work you will find that PETA & HSUS are the same people.
While PETA would like to advance their agenda by burning down someone's business, HSUS would like to advance the same agenda through federal and local legislation. It's still the same agenda and same people!!

OH, and they have become millionaires at the gullible publics expense.

Yes I have heard about this idea of PETAs as well as a few of their other ideas.
They are extremeists with very radical ideas and most of them are never going to happen or come into being.
Thank goodness.
At one time they had good ideas but they just got way to radical and now most people think they are a joke once they find out what they really are about and what they really support.

Wow, PETA has gone insane - moreso than usual. It will never happen, but the though is frightening. And if it's true that the food poisoning was done intentionally by PETA, they're done.

What site was this on?
