Get your dog before deciding on his/her name. Watch the dog for a couple of days and you may realize that a certain look or behaviour will name him for you. I named my dog Briar...after the Druid tree that represents courage and strength and resourcefulness, because I knew she'd be small. She's not lacking in any of those qualities. My cat is named Luna after the moon, because she is totally silver, and like the old song says..."by the light of the silvery moon." Even though you may find the perfect name, you'll have to see if your dog will respond to it. Some animals do pick their own names.

It's fun to name them after a dog from T.V. If you have ever seen 8 Below or Snow Dogs then pick your favorite and name it that. But after seeing the dog you'll probably have a name pop into your head!!

The most popular dog name in North America is Sam, Sammie or Samantha (which means "listener"). The second most popular is Max, Maxie, Maxwell or Maxine (which means "the greatest" in Latin). Third is Lady, followed by Bear, Maggie, Buddy, Tasha, Chelsea (or Chelsie), Holly and Shasta. Other very popular names are Brandy, Ginger and Taffy.

I have two dogs, one named Toby, the other Daisy.

Other names I've found cute for dogs (as I've been looking at getting another bundle of joy) are Kudo, Martini (Marty for short), Bentley, Cotton, Dunkin, Lucy, Duke, and Cha-Cha.

paco = coz, he eats nails (pako in english is nails)
moja = coz, i was watching mojacko(anime) during the giving of the name

you should look at the dog first and think of the first names that come to you by looking at it. a very cute name is Cricket, just to tell you.

Pets tell you their names from their personality. I didn't know what to name my basset, but all of a sudden "Gracie" came to mind. So now she's Gracie-Boo-Boo. When we got a kitten, just from watching him jump around and skitter all over the place, "Thor" popped to mind for the Norse god of thunder. (Nicknamed Thorazine because he's still nuts.)
