are they to live out their life as hermaphrodites? are they only allowed to be with other hermaphrodites? or are they to take the path chosen by their doctor? what happens in that case when they grow up to be a man, but want to be a woman, or vice versa? will god punish them because a doctor made the wrong choice?

yousucka, i think you're forgetting that most hermaphrodites have their sex chosen by their parents at birth out of fear of the child growing up as an outcast.

According to Islam a hermaphrodite should seek medical assistance. If the doctor says that an operation is necessary then the person should definitely listen to him. Whatever sex is decided is just a correction, therefore, the person can spend his entire life as a male or a female for instance and he won't be punished. Why would he have to be punished?

very interesting question....and no one can give a solid answer....
I believe that these situtations are more rare than people may think. God loves all, and as long as they give their heart and life to the Lord I see no reason at all that they shouldn't be given the same rewards in Heaven as all of us. This is only possible if they stay the way they were born, i think. People that get sex changes for whatever reason, i dont see how God could have fellowship with them.

I'm not sure why these things happen. But I do know that God loves all of His creation. Sometimes things happen that we will never understand on this side of Heaven. That does not mean that God made a mistake. Only He knows why He allows things like this to take place. The secret things belong to the Lord and His ways are to wonderful for my understanding. We are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of Him.
