I just joined a gym and thought I could just wear suits with shorts instead of buying new clothes. Would it be really embarrassing? I would think the suits would be good for absorbing sweat, has anyone tried it? Thanks.

I wouldn't do that, but if you're comfortable, then who cares?

If your comfortable, then sure. But a bathing suit isn't going to absorb sweat or offer support the way sports clothes are. I know going to the gym isn't about looks, but c'mon. That is just ridiculous. To each their own I guess, but be prepared to be stared at often. If that doesn't bother you, then who cares i guess.

It's really not that expensive to buy yourself a tank top or sports top to wear with your shorts though. You can probably find a good one for around 20 bucks.

A sports bra is more for support vs looks. Bathing suits are not made for the same kind of support. You can always wear a tank top and shorts. There is no rule that you can't wear a shirt to the gym.

I don't really think it matters if it's corny as long as you're preventing obesity in America. haha.

On a more serious note, a suit won't support your breasts the way they need to be, and I'm sure you don't want that. I usually work out using a sports bra from Victoria's Secret. Some things are just worth the investment, in my opinion. But do what's comfortable for you.

And as far as absorbing sweat, you want to avoid doing that, because having perspiration stick to your body can cause unwanted things like ringworm to occur from any fungus that can grow from the sweat. Sweat freely, and take a shower immediately afterwords, even if it's just a rinse off.

Have fun working out!

The bathing suit will not be able to support you. Thy wearing a sports bra under any t-shirt or tank tip you already have. You can buy sports bras cheap @ Walmart (so you won't have to go out & buy any new clothes, per se...just the bras.)

Wear whatever is comfortable to you. Your choice seems sensible and besides, who gives a flying fig if someone else chooses a different kind of workout clothes. You're going to the gym to get fit. It's not a fashion show.

depends on your gym's rules also. my gym once denied a woman access because she wasn't specifically wearing a sports bra
