It IS possible to prove something doesn't exist if it's definition can be shown to be self-contradictory.

Even supposing that you could disprove god to YOUR satisfaction, do you really imagine that the godders will buy it?

If you were able to do a reductio ad absurdam on the Biblical description, any godder who cared (and they'll be very few) would simply reinterpret that description until it fits.

Perhaps you've been distracted by the oft-repeated claim by Christians that they follow the Bible. They don't, of course: they follow just enough of it to build their fluffy little magic fantasy world, and ignore anything they don't like. They'd do the same to your proposed proof in seconds.

that guy at the botom says there is proof of god.. well sorry to burst you bubble but science PROVES other wise, its said that god made the world, the whole univers ect.. , the WHOLE unvivers was born by two atoms, matter and anti-matter, there was more matter then anti_matter in the mix and as a result the univers was born, ( stars, rocks (comets), and alot of gas's, rocks got pulled together ( by larger rocks coz og gravity) making stars and planet systems. when a star dies it will do 1 of 2 things, if the star is big enough it will explode then implode back on its self creating a black hole, if the star is smaller how ever it become a red giant then explodes (supernova), this is where we come in, when a star supernavas insted of imploding in time the atoms that was within the star cluster up because the gravity pull of what was the star is still there, billions of years go by and they cluster up so close they react, making a big bang and creating a whole new univers. ( this happens on a daily basis, new planet systems are in the making right now) so i stick with whats been proved and is still happerning then putting faith into somthing that has no hard proof that its true.

There have been many attempted disproofs of "God" over the past thousand years. Whether you accept any given proof depends strongly on your own definition of God, and what you personally believe.

Ultimately, if "God" is assumed to have supernatural powers, and to have existence outside of our universe and not subject to human scientific testing, then by definition, "God" becomes a non-disprovable concept.

In this case, no, you can't disprove God.

You also can not disprove the existence of invisible, undetectable three-headed zebras living in Central Park in New York; by definition, they are "undetectable", so it's impossible to test (and thus prove or disprove) their existence.

If we define God to be similarly invisible, not detectable in a reproducible fashion by human instruments, and having powers outside the laws of physics, then we also cannot disprove that he/she/it exists.

That is not the same as saying there is a God - merely that concepts that are defined as non-disprovable cannot, obviously, be disproved.

You said in your comment that it's possible to disprove the existence of something if by definition there are internal inconsistencies - such as "I have in my pocket a rock that is larger than it is". However, the definition of God can be modified to ensure there are no inconsistencies.

Can we see the proof?

I agree that in principle it is possible that there could be a proof demonstrating God's nonexistence. I don't know of any such proof, though.

Of course I'm not really very interested, since such a proof would only further confirm the natural conclusion I already draw based on the complete lack of evidence for the existence of God.

You are contradicting yourself. To be an athiest means you have no belief in any other higher power whether it be good or evil. If you are a true athiest why would you be worrying about disproving god if you yourself have said that you don't even believe such a person even exsits?

Whatever is proved can be disproved and reverse too is true. God is not a concept or jugglery of words.

It is an experience of the state of being which most of the worldly people r unable to get in their life time.

I think that it is much more entertaining to let the so called "believers" try to explain their position without any proof whatsoever. Just sit back and listen to their spew, it is hilarious. Enjoy Benny Hinn, Richard Roberts, Pat Robertson, Joyce Meyer, and many others... Now thats entertainment. Also relish the fact that these "believers" are paying to believe in their own imaginations, while the Zeaots are raking in their cash, and spending it on themselves.

Why if you are trying to disprove God..are you on a sight that discusses and loves him? Keep searching here.. eventually something will touch your soul and you will realize God's love for you, He is an awesome God!

You folks are playing the part in an huge scenario and you aren't even aware of it! Note the falling away reference in the next passage;

2 Thessalonians 2
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Matthew 24-6-13
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

God Bless you all!
