Evangelical means in accordance with the Christian gospel, especially one of the four gospel books of the New Testament.

Using this definition, all Catholics are evangelical.

Evangelical can also mean:
+ Of, relating to, or being a Protestant church that founds its teaching on the gospel. [Catholics are not Protestant]
+ Of, relating to, or being a Christian church believing in the sole authority and inerrancy of the Bible [Catholics also believe in the authority of Apostolic Tradition]
+ Of or relating to the Lutheran churches in Germany and Switzerland. [Nope]
+ Of or relating to all Protestant churches in Germany. [Nope]
+ Of or relating to the group in the Church of England that stresses personal conversion and salvation by faith [Nope]

Just like some denominations try to redefine what Christian means, some try to redefine what evangelical means.

With love in Christ.

Evangelicalism is a somewhat broad term used to describe a movement within Protestantism that is characterized by an emphasis on having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This relationship begins when a person receives Christ's forgiveness and is spiritually reborn. Those who ascribe to this belief are called Evangelicals.
The roots of Evangelicalism go back to the Protestant Reformation, during which time the Bible was brought back to the masses. Formerly neglected biblical truths were rediscovered and taught.
In our culture today, there are many other caricatures of Evangelical Christians. For some, the term Evangelical Christian is equivalent to right-wing, fundamentalist Republican. For others, Evangelical Christian is a title to differentiate an individual from Catholic Christians and Orthodox Christians. Others use the term to indicate adherence to the fundamental doctrines of Christianity. In this sense, an Evangelical Christian is a believer who holds to the inspiration, inerrancy, and authority of Scripture, the Trinity, the deity of Christ, and salvation by grace through faith alone.
The most crucial problem with the Roman Catholic Church is its belief that faith alone in Christ is not sufficient for salvation. The Bible clearly and consistently states that receiving Jesus Christ as Savior, by grace through faith, grants salvation (John 1:12; 3:16,18,36; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9-10,13; Ephesians 2:8-9). The Roman Catholic Church rejects this. The official position of the Roman Catholic Church is that a person must believe in Jesus Christ AND be baptized AND receive the Eucharist along with the other sacraments AND obey the decrees of the Roman Catholic Church AND perform meritorious works AND not die with any mortal sins AND etc., etc., etc.

There better be!! Since the job of an "evangelical" is to "spread the good news" (That's what "evangelical" means!) There are Catholics who are involved in the Renewal movement, and even some charismatic Catholics.

Yes there are evangelical Catholics. Mother Angelica and her followers are a prime example.

I would say the non-liturgical Christian denominations are the most zealous at trying to convert people.

It's mostly a protestant thing, though I've seen some Catholic priests who offered some quite evangelical sermons.

I have heard of Charismatic Catholics. They believe in and manifest the gifts of the Holy Spirit, in addition to being Catholic.
