I don't support doing so, but I'm sure there are good reasons not to do so that I haven't considered.

And while we're discussing it, what would be the disadvantages of destroying Iraq with conventional weapons?

An idealistic but impractical solution to the conflict may include moving peaceful and amenable civilians to a place where their safety can be guaranteed until the insurgents are defeated and the infrastructure is rebuilt. I mention this to reduce the likelihood of criticism for having nothing useful to add to the conversation.

The U.S. will totally lose whatever little credibility is still left in its policies. Remember that the White House has been mouthing all along from the very beginning that the American invasion of Iraq was necessary in order to save that country. Well, are you saving a country if you destroy it with nuclear weapons?. If that happens, then the U.S. has lied once again to deceive its own people as well as the other nations.

If a more powerful nation than the U.S. happens to be in existence, and if that nation destroyed the U.S. with nuclear weapons for the same reason as to save the U.S., would that be acceptable to you?.

So, what you're saying is, move the sane ones out of the way, then let the crazies have it. I can see where you're going with this, except the fallout from the amount of nuclear weapons it would take would have an impact on pretty much every water supply in the Middle East and then some. Also, who's to say the crazies aren't lying about being crazy? That's what makes them so crazy!

I think that is a question easily answered because anyone would intuitively know if you substitute "the US" instead of Iraq in your question. Or instead of the US, you could substitute any other country you care about.

Change it to this question: "What would be the disadvantages of destroying the US with nuclear weapons?" Or, should we bomb our crime ridden city neighborhoods after relocating the "good" people? Call it urban renewal. Katrina destroyed a community and hurt eveyone and now things are much worse..

We are all brothers and sisters.

Even if you used tactical nukes the radiation poisoning would effect many of our allies in the region and disturb the entire flow of oil which would result in everything from Gasoline to paper products in America skyrocketing.
Lastly, if any of that radiation poisoning effects Chinese people, I hope you have a really good fallout shelter built in your backyard.

first of all i beleive the invasion of iraq was illegal-none of those young folks should be out there. re: the question on nuclear weaponry. we should only apply a nuclear solution to any other country with a comparable nuclear arsenal posing a direct threat to this country-as iraq has no such arsenal the question is acedemical.

Would not be able to go into there. The fall back would cover that whole area. China, Asia, etc. We get most of our goods from that area.

How about the fact that they would kill many inncent people.
Then for those who survived we could pay a reparation fee like we have done in the past.....

It can't be done...thank goodness.
