I have a 1998 F-150 that has developed this problem. It started way after the truck was out of warranty though so I just chalked it up to age. The problem seemed to start where the original wheel weights were located and peeled from there. I don't think there is much you can do about it unless it's a newer vehicle under warranty. In that case, Ford should stand behind it. I've never had a problem with them on warranty service.

If the problematic wheels are factory and haven't been repainted, you should have no problem getting them fixed or replaced. If one dealer won't help, others will.

I've always been very satisfied with Ford quality....at least for the last 10 or 15 years.

Ford has never treated me rite. i had 5 outta 6 break down on me. My advice is get a Chevy. my chevy has 200,000 miles on it and i have had NO problems. Chevy has treated me real nice. call your dealership and let them look at it. they should be able to fix it. NEVER BUY A FORD AGAIN!!!!!
