Yes, but usually you have to be completely well-read in the religion to understand that. In Wicca, for example, there is a lot of precidence for killing in defense of yourself or others, but if you have a sort of cereal-box back understanding of the religion, you don't get that.
Which is a shame, since there are a LOT of Wiccan soldiers and cops.

I do not believe in taking anyone's life. However, if it comes to a life or death situation, and my life or the life of an innocent person is threatened, I look for a way to put an end to the situation without having to kill anyone. If there's no other choice, I'll shoot to kill.

It is permitted in the Jewish/Christian religion. If you read the Old Testament laws given to Moses, it gives different penalties for accidental deaths, self defense, manslaughter and "murder one". Those differences influenced European and American law to also allow for such different degrees of "murder" with different penalties (if any) for each.

That is a common sense question. You don't complicate that with religious or governmental laws. The Church and State are inviolably separated. Let the law of the state settle the question.

Yup, Islam allows it and I don't see what's wrong with that. Even the secular law in all countries do not punish you for that. What's the big deal.
