I intend to send my son to nursery when he is old enough to start his education and to learn social skills. He is only 14 months old and already I take him to a toddler group so that he is used to other children and is learning how to interact with them.

I'm a pregnant woman who sends my daughter to nursery a couple of times a week.
The reasons?
1. So she can socialise/interact with other children her age.
2. So I can go to work
3. So she has some time away from me - making her a confident child.
4. So she can learn new things and take part in a range of activities (not all available outside of nursery).
5. She loves it!
May I ask how many children you have and what are your objections to day nurseries? I know some people view them as a negative in modern families but to many they are an essential and as long as children have a good balance of social/nursery time and quality family time I do not see the problem.
And surely preparing them a little for full time schooling is a good idea? Five days to week away from Mum after five years of never being away from her can be pretty traumatic on some children.

i work in a nursery an i was a nurser baby an i personaly think they are a great idea,
parents send there older child if pregnat to nursery for a number of reasons for her benift an the childs
1 mum may still be working themselves eg not yet on maternaty leave
2 its very tiring being pregnat an looking after a young child
an for the child
1 if the child is already in nursey when the mum gets pregnant its disturbs the child to take them out of ther usual routien its hard 4 young child too ccept change the baby will be a big enogh change an parents like to keep the childs routien as normal as possiable
2 it benifits the chid they learn social skills,
3 the chils is stimulated (heavly preg mums may noyt be able to go out so what stiumulation will the child be gettin stuck in the house)
4 also gives both mum an the child a break mum my bealittle stressed children pick up on that
sorry i got abit ranty then

Well i take it your not English by your grammar so i take it this is the reason why you have no idea, like people have already said on here is for toddlers to learn certain social and mental skills and to interact with other kids you no socialise, they learn to share, they learn ,to build, make, create,co-ordination and politeness and understanding of others with different lives, backgrounds and up bringing etc. We are doing for our kids future ensuring they have a good start to life and learning, opening there minds i wish people would stop trying to make us feel guilty for this. It is not to get rid of them as most nurseries are about 2-half hours long so getting them ready and dropping them off, then going home then back to pick them up sometimes seems a struggle but it's for them there for worth it and we pay until there 3yrs old so it's not free day care either!

My child had to go to nursery so I could go to work and pay the bills - we also have a higher standard of living if I work and she had better social interaction.
She is 6 now and is a very bright kid!

it slowly gets them used to a classroom environment and into a routine so that when they start school full time they wont feel like they have been thrown in at the deep end. (referring to 3 year olds) there are lots of other benefits to a nursery. learn to make friends, learn to share. interaction. lots of things.

Well most mothers dont WANT to send their kids to Daycare/ nursery A lot of them have to so that they can work and earn enough money to live off of. Single parents espesially. There are also very good things about day care. they learn a lot, they get to sosialize. My husband and I work oppisite shifts so we dont have to take ours to daycare, we couldnt afford it. but something different works for each family.

Perhaps so she can go to work and then they can afford to eat and pay the mortgage.
As for being pregnant with another young child believe me that is the hardest thing I have ever done (my children are 14 months apart in age) so any respite she could get she deserves.
