How much current does a Split AC (18500 BTU) consume per month. Say, it is run for approximately 5 hours a day.

What other factors should we take into account (other than BTU) to calculate the amount of power AC consumes?

How to calculate the cost the AC incurs per month in Indian Rupees? Please advise. Thank you.. Any additional information with specific links are highly appreciated.

Given: A small AC unit rated at 18,500 BTU/hr running for 5-hours per day.

I don't know about the energy efficiency requirements in India, but in the US a new residential AC unit of that size must have a minimum effiicency efficiencty rating (EER) of around 10.

BTU rating ÷ EER = watts
18500 ÷ 10 = 1850 watts = 1.85 kW

1.85 kW x 5 hours x 30 days = 277.5 kWh

You did not provide the cost of electricty, so I can not convert the energy usage to Indian Rupees.
