I was planning to buy a digital SLR. I found canon 350D good for me in my budget. But I saw that there are two types of this camera: Canon EOS 350D (Black and silver) and Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT. Could anyone clarify if both of them are the same or different ? If different, which is a better one. Quick reply is solicited.Thanks.

They are the same camera.
It's called the 350D in Europe, Rebel XT in the USA, and Digital Kiss N in Japan. Depending on where you live, the import models might have a lesser warranty.

(With the current model, it's 400D; Rebel XTi; Digital Kiss X)

Digital Rebel is also known as the 300D.

400D is already out.

350D has a few "improvements" over the 300D (Digital Rebel). It has a slightly higher Mp (megapixel), it is smaller and it is lighter.

I have a 300D but opted not to buy the 350D nor the 400D because they are too small and too light for my likeing. Used with a professional lens, which is usually heavy, or a long telephoto, the balance os all off.

If you plan to use it for travelling or plan to use only the supplied kit lens, then get the 350D.

I do freelance work and I am willing to carry the extra weight for better stability. The resulting shots from the 6.1Mp 300D is good enough up to A4 prints. The 350D would theorectically yeild better shots with the 8Mp but ONLY if the lens used is able to resolve to that degree.
