Here are some facts:
He is 51, I am 18 we are both aware of each others ages.
He is in the US and I am in NZ
He is married, I am not.
Is it an affair if there is no chance or intention of ever meeting? Or is it just dirty e mails?

Is it cheating? If you want to know, then answer these questions.
1/ Does he hide it from his spouse?
2/ Would he still do it if she found out?
3/ Is he choosing to take a part of his life and keep it separate from his wife?
4/ Is his wife losing out on his company because he's tied up- on the net - with you?
The other question is "If my boyfriend/lover/husband did this with someone else, would it make me feel bad?"
If yes to any of the above it's cheating, and you are then "the Other Woman". And the other thing you might want to ask yourself is "Am I the only one?"

It really depends on your definition of an affair, and what the guy is trying to rationalize his actions as. Some people consider cheating when something physical occurs, others consider it when something emotional occurs. What you need to do is decided what you consider an affair...and then apply it to what happened. Because it's not anyone else's opinion that matters. It's yours.
