Cooking for yourself is cheaper, healthier (usually), and it can even be faster. Also, you can season stuff so it tastes good to you, not to The Average Consumer.

Here are some super-easy and quick meals:

Ham sandwich, bagged salad, baby carrots, a glass of milk, a piece of fruit for dessert.

Baked potato (takes about an hour, but you can do other stuff while it's baking), hamburger or steak, frozen spinach zapped in the microwave and flavored with soy sauce, cheese and nuts for dessert.

Yogurt and fruit with a roll (sure, it's not a *great* supper, but it'll get you through the evening).

Fried chicken (could pick up from deli), corn on the cob (boiled), sliced cucumbers and watermelon for dessert.

There are a lot of easy dishes for single people. Some old favorites just need a little tweaking. For example, put some fried hamburger, onions and peppers in your macaroni and cheese. Or make mac and cheese with steamed broccoli stirred in.

You can also make double dishes, and freeze one (or several batches), then just nuke them when you want to eat.

Keep track of how much you save, and do something fun with the money!

Same here.

Except I cook enough for a few meals at a time, then put some in the fridge or freezer so I don't have to cook on another night!

I prefer to cook my own meals and have a couple of cook books with meals for one.
Often I will cook a meal to have leftovers to have the following day or to freeze for a later date.

I really enjoy cooking and like to know what Im eating so i do it often. I find things like noodles, stir fry and simply pasta dishes are really easy and quick to make. And wacking a steak in a pan takes less time than goign to the shop, and is cheaper most of the time and healthier.

For me I don't like to cook just for myself. You got to think what to buy, how you cook... After meal you have to wash those plates... Somemore eating alone is way too bored.
