If brain controls the body, who or what controls the brain? Is the brain completely autonomous? Does the brain produce the mind? Since the brain controls the body through chemical means, why does it produce a mind?

Peaceful, you are wrong. You know, the mind is within the brain and the brain produce thinking.OK?

The brain controls the body and the thinking controls the brain but it is now the brain that produce the thinking.

The brain controls the body not in chemical means but by spiritual means so that it produce the thinking not the mind.

Mind forms the brain, the body, and all matter. In doing so, mind "becomes" what it forms. As long as it is forming the body, mind "agrees" with itself to be partially tied to, thus affected by, the brain. But the truth is that mind is independent of all physicality. The brain cannot produce anything. When mind stops its association with brain, the brain stops functioning, but mind continues eternally (in our terms of time).

The brain produces the mind (sentience) by virtue of its electro-chemical storage system. Your awareness of your own existence is a by product of the minute changes that take place over time in the neural pathways, which are stored as chemical reactions. The awareness of past, present and future are what imbue the mind with its perception of "existing" as an entity in time and space. If you didn't experience the passage of time, you probably would not "be."

This may be why certain drugs that alter our perception of time by slowing or freezing it, are sometimes referred to as being "mind-expanding" drugs, or why practitioners of Zen meditation often describe zen as living a lifetime in a single moment.

We all control "The Mind". Yet it is our individual brains that create the plethora of perspectives (egos).

And, in addition to what carychrysler and iofKnut said above, think of an individual whom doctors consider "Brain dead." Do you think that maybe a better term for it would be "Mind/Soul gone"? (Just some thoughts)

The brain and the rest of the body is the physical counterpart of the mind. The mind exists first and creates the body in it's image; your physical body hungers for food and thirsts for drink, your mind hungers for meaning and thirsts for understanding. You have physical hands to grasp objects, your mind has 'hands' that grasp concepts. You have physical eyes(and other physical senses) and you have your mind's eyes(and other inner senses). You have legs that allow you to move around in the physical world and your mind races and runs and explores those nonphysical realms. The similarities are endless.

I tend to think the mind is most closely connected to our identity and sentience. It seems our brain is a physical tool our mind uses to experience itself and the world.

But I don't know any of this for sure.

A mind or awareness is not necessarily required for a human body to function.
