Amy - the symptoms you describe can be concerning, and many people may not understand how your mind is working. Working with your therapist, and calling her when you are feeling frantic is an important thing to do.
Someone very close to me has had similar symptoms. You can learn new ways to function - with time and therapy - and this can be less of a problem to you in the future.

Most therapists have you write a "safety plan" stating what you will do when you are upset or feeling frantic or your dissociation is interfering with your life. Look at your safety plan, and follow what it says.

You will need to use your safety plan at times when you do not feel safe. It is helpful to have a special pillow or blanket to hold or wrap up in for those times to help you feel safe.

Ask your therapist what is happening to you - she can explain it best. This is not crazy. This is something your brain is doing to help you survive, and it is ok. The hardest part can be when you are here today, but your feelings are upset from something that happened before. It can be hard to feel safe.

For a helpline - for the public - there should be a rape/crisis hotline in your area. Call information, police or hospital to ask.

There is HOPE.

i am not sure if you are suffering from social phobia, all the same you should feel free to tell your therapist whatever you feel ,it is how psychotherapy works.
