In our normal everyday life we all make mistakes and sin to some point (even me-LOL).
The object is to get more and more like Christ every day and the way we do that is with the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
He is God's "Living Will" He is God in us, He is our conscience.
If we make a mistake and sin we feel the guilt, that is the Holy Spirit, if there is no guilt, there is no Holy Spirit so there is no guilt.
But if it is not a mistake and you choose to sin and keep doing it knowing you are going against Christ then YES the Holy Spirit will leave you and you will be worse off than before you knew the truth and became a Christian.

There is some debate on this. The way I belive is when we are saved the Lord gives us a holy spirit. That holy spirit is with us forever. Then there's the Holy Ghost which is wow..awsome. THe Bible says the Holy Ghost will not dwell in an unclean temple. So I believe if we sin, and ask for forgiveness immediately and change our ways back to correctness He won't leave. But if we sin and keep on sinning then yes I believe He leaves until we are born again, sanctified and ask Him back into our lives.

THe holy sprirt is a companion, our guide. But it cannot dwell in unholy places. Once you have emmersed yourself in an unholy enviornment or make bad decisions it can no longer dwell with you. Not saying that it is gone, but would you expect you pastor to chug beers and go to a strip bar with you? no! why is that? it's kinda the same thing. The holy spirit can't dwell in a place like that. It will try to guide you out of situations that might cause you lose that companionship, but once there it can no longer be with you until you make a change that would invite him back into your life. ie repent, pray, leave the situatuion and pray etc. Think about how you feel when you do something good...that's the holy spirit...no think about you feel when you do something bad...that is you without your guidance and comfort from the holy spirit. He's not gone forever...he just doesn't want to chug beers and chill at a strip bar with you! ( figurativley speaking of course);) Now when you can't feel any difference between right and wrong...then you know you are in trouble and he is for sure gone...not just on a break! of course with lifestyle changes you can always have him back!

Original sin is absurd and doesn't exist. You create your own sin.
As for losing the Holy Spirit, whenever you transgress God and turn away from His will, a part of your complete spirit dies. When it's not whole anymore, it's not the Holy Spirit. I pray to God every day to rebuke me severely when/if I sin so that I may learn, and it's worked so far so good. When you are sanctified with the Baptism/Bridal Chamber, your will to sin dissapates, and you have to think about sinning. I did and was rebuked severely for it! You really do have to CHOOSE sin at that point, rather than it being thoughtless as in before sanctification.

Sin is what separates us from the filling of the Holy Spirit, and obedience to God is how the filling of the Spirit is maintained. Although our focus should be to be filled as Ephesians 5:18 commands, praying for the filling of the Holy Spirit is not what accomplishes the filling of the Spirit. Only our obedience to God's commands allows the Spirit freedom to work within us. Because we are sinful creatures, it is impossible to be filled with the Spirit all of the time. We should immediately deal with sin in our lives, and renew our commitment to being Spirit-filled and Spirit-led.

The Holy Spirit is always with us. Sinning is a natural part of our spiritual progress. Sure we are going to veer off course once in a while. Then we make corrections, learn from them, and presto! This is what the whole life experience is supposed to be about! We are constantly supported by the Holy Spirit!!

Anything Holy cannot remain in a place where it is un holy , so keep on sinning is what causes Holy Spirit to move away from us , our reconciliation with LORD is necessary.

No The Holy Spirit is always with you but at times through our actions we are cut off from the full benefits of the Holy Spirit.
But this is only my view point!

The Holy Spirit is always with us. When we sin, we just aren't listening to His soft sweet voice guiding us.
