I saw 3. 3 in one day! Two of them won't be sporting belly rings. If it's hurting less as days go by, it's probably getting better. You should still watch for sign of continued redness, swelling around the site, any fluid or pus, crusts beginning to form, or any feeling of added warmth around it. If you notice ANY of those things, get yourself down to your local emergency room.

I hope this teaches you not to tell other people it's a good idea.

The redness comes from a mild infection. If you got it done at a professional place you need to call them and ask what to do. You should at least use an antibiotic cream on it. If it gets any worse, see a doctor.

If I had the problem, and I had some left over antibiotics, I would use them.

One answer mentioned left-over antibiotics, what ever you do, finish 100% of all prescriptions of antibiotics, and never, never take left-overs! This is critical. I'll leave this at that, rather than explain why this is, which is a little long. But you must regard that seriously.
Now, to your bellybutton. I have not pierced mine, so I only have heard from friends who have done this, but it may take quite a while for it to heal completely. DO call the piercer, and do call your doctor. I have heard that regular cleaning with no special products should be all you need, but not everyone is the same, so check with them. Best of luck to you. Wear pretty jewels.

there still is a chance that it could be infected. Things like cysts and zits aren't really painful but they're still full of yucky infected gunk. Redness typically isn't good......you might want to consult the person who pierced you or a doctor
