go to a tattoo artist before you go to a doctor.
their consult will be free at the very least.

and maybe you just need to buy an after care product, which will be much cheaper than any prescriptions the doctor will give you...

wash with an antibacterial soap (1 maybe 2 times a day), and then use a unscented oil-free lotion after. you should use the lotion 2-3 times a day.
don't let it soak in any water, because that can cause infection. and do not pick at the scabs.
take some ibuprofen for the pain, it'll also help the inflamation.
if it's not better in two days then go see your tattoo artist.

Geez man.. not good at all. Wash it well with hot water and soap, then apply some antibiotic cream like Neosporin .. if it doesn't look a heck of a lot better in 12 hours, go to the doctor.

1. Well first wash it clean with soap and water. Then mix about 3 teaspoon of baking soda in 2 quarts if distilled water or so. Put this water in a clean basin and use this water to wash the area slowly.(7-10 minutes of washing should be good). Dry with a clean dry towel.
2. Get a fresh aloe leaf from Wallmart, or another produce place. Wash it clean and then split it in the middle. ( 4inches should do) Now rub the clear slippery section on the infection for about 3 minutes and let it dry by itself. You may do this 2 times for the day. You may even bandage the aloe on for a hour if you want to do it only once for the day.

The tattoo on my foot got infected and I soaked it in epson salt mixture, let it air dry and put tons of neosporin on it. The epson salt pulls out the infection. It burned like hell but it was better than going to the doctor!

Wow. I didn't even know they could get infected. I say the doc knows alot more than anyone here does. Plus he'll have the advantage of actually seeing it. Good luck.

Neosporin... rinse it off, put neosporin on it twice a day, put ice packs on it whenever you remember... if that doesn't clear the infection in a few days (or at least improve it)... go to your doctor

sounds like your going to need antibiotics. but if your really not keen on going to the doctor just yet. try a anti-bacterial hand wash 3 times a day. soak your foot in the warm soapy water and gently remove any of the gunk. then apply some sort of anti-bacterial- healing cream. i like to use paw paw cream on my tats. make sure its moist. then wrap in a light bandage, still allowing your tat to breath, but not letting any dirt get in. try doing this for 2-3 days, but if you dont see any improvement make sure you see a doc, you could get sick.
good luck xo

You'd be best going to the doctor, they'll have the correct antibiotics and possibly be able to save your tattoo!

Don't listen to these nitwits. Go see a doctor right now. Find out what caused the infection. Was it improper aftercare? Was the needle infected?

Please go now. You can not treat this yourself at this point.
