it sounds like he has a serious sinus infection.
he needs to see a doctor ASAP!

take some decongestants and call the health department to find out where people with no money can see a doctor for free.

I don't know that that's cancer, it usually doesn't spring up like that to my knowledge. I'm not an expert on these things but it could be an infection. If the pain is that bad you will probably want to get pain relievers from a doctor anyway, might as well have an urgent care center take a look at it. It also could be a swollen gland, sometimes they're painful but very rarely life threatening (I get those quite a bit). But I would just head to a 24 hour medical clinic of some sort and get it looked at if I were you. Best wishes :)

He needs to see a doctor. It could be a sinus infection or an ear infection but killing the pain is not going to solve the problem, the pain will only get worse and end up costing you more money to try to save his hearing. There is probably a "free clinic" in your area that will check him out for no or minimal charge. My husband had ringing in his ear and horrible headaches and he is now on medication to control it - they don't know what is causing it. But he saw a DOCTOR. Do not self medicate him. It will cause more harm than good. There is no price to great to pay for your health. I'm sure you can find somebody to help you. It's worth it.

There are services in most communities to help you pay for that. Anything with the ears needs immediate attention. Did you notice a prior answer that said the ERs will not turn you down? They usually can tell you where to apply for help. Also, even though you are off work, the worker's comp may cover some of your other health needs. Check this all out AFTER you get back from the ER.

If you have those meds why haven't you given him anything? Ringing in the ears is cause by alot of things but one cause is too much asprin. If he is taking that for the ear pain he probably developed tinnitis. Other than that he should see a doctor. He probably has had an ear infection and its been along time. He needs antibiotics. Letting an ear infection go without treatment is dangerous. Call the doctor make an appt. and tell them you have to pay alittle at a time. Tell them its an emergency, or take him to the ER. They will bill you. You can pay them $5 a month.

Take him to the ER. As another answerer mentioned, they can't turn you away. They MUST treat you, BY LAW, whether you can pay or not. Most also can give you vouchers for medications or give you the meds there if you can't afford them. Some cities/towns also have free clinics or "pay what you can" clinics or reduced price clinics where they also help you get the medications if you don't have money. They can also give you information on relief programs to assist you in getting help with other expenses while you are not working due to your injury. Why are you not getting workman's comp or SSI/SSD or unemployment? There are money/programs out there to assist you, but you have to be persistent and determined to better your situation.

DO NOT give him any prescription medication that was not prescribed TO HIM, FOR THIS CONDITION.... he could have a bad reaction to it or it could cause serious complication or even death.... you don't know what's wrong with him and therefore you don't know what a medication could do to aggravate his condition. PLUS, giving any prescription medication to any person, other than the person it is prescribed for, is ILLEGAL, ESPECIALLY when you're dealing with narcotics. If you are genuinely concerned for his health and he is suffering, get him to a doctor... there are ways to get healthcare even when you are struggling financially... if he's in that much pain and you are that worried I would think it would be instinctual to find a way to go to the doc.

Does he grind his teeth at night? It sounds like he might have tinnitus caused by clenching the jaw. If that's the case he should see a dentist who would probably fit him with a night guard to prevent clenching at night. I realize you can't afford a dentist right now. Since you are both injured from work, I wonder why you haven't received any compensation. In Canada you would be eligible for Workman's Compensation. Surely you have some legal rights. Maybe you can find a lawyer who wouldn't take a fee until you get some money out of your former employers, those bastards. Good luck!

This kind of sounds like Tinnitus Aurium. If you go to the doctor the will most likely just give you Vicodin, Perocet or Darvocet. You can get some herbs that will.

also, try rolling a newspaper into a funnel shape, place the tip in his ear, now light the newspaper on fire at the top. Let the paper burn down until his ear pops. Really, it works. The suction from the fire will draw all the inflammation out.
Good Luck
