Hi Hilary,
You've overeaten and are paying the price. Alka-Seltzer helps, as does a clear soda, like 7-up. Sip it, don't guzzle or drink it quickly or you will make it worse! A walk may help you digest, and relieve some of the pain. Don't walk fast, just moderately, even slowly. If the pain lasts too long, see a doctor. If your medical benefits allow you to call for information, do that right away. Your symptoms could be from something else, but overeating is the most likely. And the last thing is: don't do that again. As hungry as you may be sometimes, set a limit to how much you eat at one time, and how quickly you eat it.
Here's a trick I learned from years of dieting: eat your vegetables first, then go on to bread and meat. You will naturally eat less, and feel better after meals. Take your daily walks after dinner, too. It helps digestion.

Possible causes
1. Over eating
2. IBS
3. Gallbladder
4. Pancreatitis
The pain from IBS is usually lower though. Try some tylenol and rest. Then I'd keep an eye out for another "attack" an note anything and everything you've had over the course of the last 24 hours. If it's recurrent you may be able to figure out what's triggering it. Hope this helps a little. Good luck.

These sharp stomach pains after a meal are most likely caused by a bad indigestion..In my family we're accustom to using natural herbal remedies.
For these stomach pains you should boil OREGANO which is an herb used for cooking. You can find it at any local supermarket. Add 1 table spoon of oregano in 2 cups of water till it starts boiling. . Drink just 1/2 cup but add 1/2 tea spoon of salt. Yes SALT.. It normally settles your stomach in minutes, but if it continues drink another 1/2 cup a few hours later..
My mother told me about this tea as a teenager and I thought she was nuts..When I tried it and it worked instantly, I thought she was an Angel sent from heaven.. I still do..Try it. It wont hurt and its inexpensive. Let me know if it works..GOOD LUCK
