we are now the priests. through the blood and the flesh, the bread and the wine we consume, we no longer need any intermediary between ourselves and God. we have been given the responsibility of reading and studying the scriptures, praying, spreading the words of truth, and upholding the community of the faithful. we do not need to make any more blood sacrifices, and we do not need the priests anymore. Hebrews chapter 7 11If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the law was given to the people), why was there still need for another priest to come—one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? 12For when there is a change of the priesthood, there must also be a change of the law.
Jesus was the one of the order of Melchizedek, who served bread and wine to Abraham, and he fulfills the old testament and allows us to enter into the covenant with God without any hippocritical pharisees or sanhedrin.

Before Christ shed His blood on calvary there was a HUGE curtain in the temple between the common people and the Holy of Holies where only the priest could go. After Jesus died the veil was torn in two and now everyone who is a born-again Christian can go straight to Him instead of through a priest.

1 Peter 2:9--
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
1 Timothy 2:5--
For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus
1 Corinthians 3:1-9--
Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men? For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere men?
What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.
**end of passage**
I refuse to get into a Protestant/Catholic debate because that will go absolutely nowhere except downhill. I'd much rather just preach the Gospel and let it speak for itself.

Jesus was like a Chief priest. His clothing of a Gorgeous robe signifies priesthood. We no longer need priest cuz we dont sacrifice or need someone to plead to our God for mercy. We can speak to Jesus as He is there evrywhere. What need of a High Priest??

When will you catholics understand that not everyone who is not catholic is a protestant? I got so tired of hearing that word growing up as a catholic. My family always referred to other religions as protestant. I renounced the catholic religion due to the false teachings and idol worship (very un-biblical). I am now a born again Christian. You don't think the catholic religion is a cult, just read this website, one of many that I came across about the religion itself. When you get to it, click on "false religion" and see what the catholics are really doing for your soul and eternity.

See above plus Jesus did away with the "wall" between us and God so we can go directly to the mercy seat.
When I looked there were two good answers by the time I posted there were several.

What happened to the authority...
Patriarchal Age passed into the...
Mosaic Age passed into the...
Christian Age is here and it too will pass. Are you ready?
Your answer... It was done away with. There was a "better" New covenant (both prophesied and) established.
P.S. The link which "Jill" provided is quite different from the one I will share with you.

Jesus did away with this with His death and resurrection. We are no longer under 'law', but under His grace and mercy. We don't have to offer sacrifices to repent of our sins to receive forgiveness from God.
