I have just recovered from H-Pylori. But with the sickness and without it now I still can not eat! I get hunger pangs maybe twice a week. I can go two days on a banana. I gained twenty pounds from NOT eating. I'm trying to lose the weight ( i'm only 27) and I can't lose it. I have tried eating little bit at a time, but I'm FULL all the time. I need to lose this weight. I need to be healty again. I'm the only person who gains wait from not eating. I eat only protein shakes and bananas. I may have soup twice a week. I cannot live like this. In order to speed up my metabolism and digest food again what do I need to do?. Should I re instate good bacteria from a probiotic regiment?. Take enzyme pills?. Any advice. I'm at my wits end. It's my high school reunion in two weeks! Not to mention I hate feeling full like I ate a 5 course meal and all I had was a glass of milk!

If you ingest too few calories, your metabolism slows down. It's hard to burn calories with a slower metabolism. You are not alone here.

That's why yo yo dieters never keep off the lost pounds.

Ask the doctor first. If you are better after the illness, try Activa, a newer yogurt product by Dannon. It restores digestion to a normal state.

You may have hypothyroidism, which lowers the metabolism. A quick blood test will let you know if you have more than the H-Pylori.

My Mother was ill for several weeks. First thought it was gall stones, turned out to be Ulcer. However several weeks of eating and vomiting, she managed to put weight ON? Yes it seems if the body thinks it will not get fed every three hours, it holds onto what it got and then you pile the weight on. Now she has three small meals per day and she will 'force feed' herself even if she does not feel hungry.
First you need to work out a exercise regime, twenty minute slot everyday where you are going to go out running or jogging. Then you will eat a meal, will eat, even if you are not feeling hungry. The following week, run/jog, eat two small meals and keep building up. I know if I do not get my exercise, I do not feel hungry. If I do not feel hungry I will not eat. That then goes into bouts of constipation, not nice. Therefore exercise makes you burn food, make you feel great, makes you look great and then you will feel hungry and eat. It is all about routine.

When you don't eat, your body thinks it's starving, so saves every calorie it can get. You should eat Small amounts (couple of tablespoonfuls) six times a day, and make it a variety of foods- fruits, veggies, meats, and you can stay satisfied but lose weight. I lost 50 lb in six months that way. After eating four times a couple of hours apart, you don't WANT to eat the next half-sandwich, but if you do, you'll lose.
Sounds crazy, but it works. If you think you Must have the ice cream or gravy, get a spoonful just to satisfy the taste, but don't eat more. You'll feel better, also.

since you're recovering from H pylori you gut is fragile right now. You really need to go back to the dr and make them figure out how to get your poor digestive tract back in working order.

Both protein drinks and bananas are high on calories. Since you have just been sick your body might think that it is starving and is holding on to every calorie that you consume. You might want to have your Thyroid checked out.
