What you have stumbles across is a natural phenomenon. All over the world, spoons are quietly disappearing down wormholes in space only to re-appear in a world where the lifeform is spoon-like. There, they continue to live in happiness and peace. The same is happening to pens and left socks. Mark my words.........................

Pens and stationary in our work place is all bought for us and if someone taxes them off another person then we mearly ask for more. My Boss really doesnt care about the money situation as most workers keep their pens at work anyway. What really ticks me off about my lunchroom is that if someone brings in a lunch that looks tasty to another co-worker then that person will just take it leaving the other person with nothing for their lunchbreak (even if a name is on it).
I take my own snack, but keep it in my locker (I work nightshift so i dont eat big. Some others do though). But i get milk stolen from me all the time which i use for my coffee breaks.
I played a practical joke on the thief....i used all the milk in my carton and poured water into it and put it back into the fridge. They never stole milk from me again!

This made me chuckle. My husband was having lunch in his van the other week with a new guy that had just started on the site. He had a wee pot of fromage frais and sucked it out the pot! He explained his wife didn't let him take teaspoons to work with him as he never brought them back!
I think people might use them for yoghurts then put them in the bin by mistake.

see i had that problem in the office i shared with the 2 other managers so i got smart. i started packing away my pens, stapler, white out and all other office supplies that i bought in a tackle box (the only container i could find with a lock) and when i left at the end of the day, or at lunch i locked the tackle box and put it under my desk before leaving. /as for the spoons why doesnt your office stop buying them and leave a donation box next to where the spoons used to go saying "can't afford new ones til you chip in"

Well, in my workplace, I am the boss; so, I think it would really scare people. They depend on my sanity. If an employee stood up and yelled, "This place sucks!!!", I would have to seriously evaluate what the heck was going on and follow up with appropriate action. It sounds to me like you are feeling really frustrated right now that you would post a question like this. Please don't follow this course of action - it will not have a good outcome. You might want to start looking for another job.

It is the same thing that's been going on with office toilet paper for years! A truck could unload tp each week and there would be none left by Friday. Those teaspoons must be a hot item on the black market!

If it stops just at teaspoons at your staff room be happy, it's butter knives for my staff room - which in a way is scary because I work for a large retailer - but then another way it could funny to see a loose nut running around threatening people with a butter knife. But hey, I am morbid.

Yes, we have the same problem at work and home. I think it has something to do with the spoon fairies (only joking), no I have done it myself, when I have had a yoghurt I leave the spoon in the pot and sometimes have thrown it in the bin with the pot. Durrrrh!!! Or is that cos I'm getting old?
