For some reason, even though they don't go outside, my cats have fleas. Frontline doesn't seem to be working. Are oral flea medications (like Program Oral Flea Medication for Cats with Lufenuron) safe? Are they effective?

I am a veterinary technician and the vets i work for dont use the oral medication because it is fresh on the market and not enough research has been done about the harm it may cause, think about it- you are essentially feeding your pet pesticide. Im surprised Frontline hasnt worked for you. However just applying Frontline to your cats wont get rid of the fleas in your house. I would reccomend applying the Frontline or Revolution and then getting your house fumigated. Also, make sure you apply the Frontline every month.

I have never tried the oral flea medicine, but I have heard good and bad things.I have always used frontline, never had a problem I'm sorry you do. I have had fleas before.

You need to bomb the house first, this will kill the fleas. You could take the cats to a friends house or a groomer for the day.

The fleas come in with us, only a few, but then they multiply so fast. Once you get it cleared up you could try collars if frontline is not working.

Fleas are a major pest. There are various species of fleas - cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and rabbit fleas.
You can get rid of them by the safest and cheapest methods like boric acid.

First it is great to hear you used the TNR program to give those kitties a better life free of kittens! I have had 3 ferals that I fed regularly. I never could have given even the most friendly Revolution and could never figure out how to treat them. Hope you solve the problem!

Onions is poisonous to dogs so don't use it
