I first tried to call the Royal Foundation Lotto at a number i found on the web. The lady I talked to said that she had never heard of me and that she would get back to me. I gave her my phone number and she said that she would call me back in ten minutes. I waited for the ten minutes and she never called me back. I tried calling her back 4 different times and got no answer.
I then looked up the phone number to the bank name that was on the check. This bank said that this is a fraudulant check and that many have turned in. She also told me that had I tried to cash the check I could have been charged with fraud and been held liable for the entire amount of the check.

I then had my brother try to call the Royal Foundation Lotto back from a different phone number. When she answered my brother asked her why she never called me back and she said that she has no record of a check being sent to me so there is no reason for her to call me back. So my brother told her that's fine we will just turn the check, envelope and letter over to the authorities. The lady then said that was fine there is no prove they have ever even heard of me and hung up on him.

I then tried to call the name of the company that was on the check. The company said that this situation has already been turned over to the authorites because there have been numerous accounts where this has happened. I was also told to turn everything over to my local police station and they would take care of this.
When I first got this letter I was overjoyed. I am a 24 year old mother with three small children, ages 5, 4, 3. This money would have helped us out a lot. But you know what they say If it seems to good to be true then it probably is.

There's a type of scam in which someone sends you a check, you deposit it and it seems to clear. A few days later, it's returned and you are responsible for repaying the bank the amount of the check. Be careful.

There are a lot of those scams going on, what the authorities are instrucing you to do is take the check to your bank and show it to them. They can tell you from there.
