Help I need to stop this stressful behavior. It is similar to cutting. I get to the point where I can't walk. The doctor is giving me more medication. I don't sleep much and barely function. I have some depression which is compounded by some life situations that I don't have any power over.
How do I stop?

I hope you are getting some professional counseling.
Your picking is like people who cut themselves.
In a way, even though it is a negative thing, it is one thing that you have control over right now. You need to work on the things that you can change and learn that some things that you can't control. You just have to deal with the things that you can't change- ask for help.
Maybe your counselor can teach you some relaxation methods.
Find something that you can do to help others so that you take focus off of your self. That often helps.

Also exercise it a great help when under stress. A brisk walk can make a world of difference in how you deal with things.

Bandage your feet. Wear shoes with ties on them. When you feel like picking, choose another behaviour which would be more healthy.

Take good care of yourself

You might try an athlete's foot treatment. Peeling skin on the feet is usually fungal in origin. Course that won't help with the depression but it'll make your feet feel better.

Medication will not stop this. You need to talk to someone who will find ways for you to stop this behavior, or make you handle your stress better so you will not have the urge to do this. I don't think this will ever be cured, but you can manage it.

medication alone will now FIX anything. I think counseling would be helpful because self-injury isn't the problem, its a symptom of a deeper problem. Once you can resolve the deeper problem then it will be much easier to help treat your self injury.

Talk to somone you love and trust.
tell them what wories you, what makes you feel bad, what scares you, what depresses you. let them help you find the other help you need if it comes to that.

that is what family/good friends are for.
