Tonic water helps. That is what my dad uses. Or their are leg cramp pills. Also lots of water and potassium. And when you are having one, stretch the muscle (i.e. stand on the leg if it in the calf and bring yours toes up to your shin). It will help them go away and the other stuff will help prevent them in the future.

This might sound crazy but it works for some people. Start with some salt. Take your salt shaker and sprinkle some salt in your palm. There is sodium and potassium that travels back and forth in your muscles and if you do not have enough sodium then the process get thrown off and causes muscle cramps and charlie horses. if the salt doesn't work try eating a banana and if that doesn't work take ibuprophen cuz there is probably some inflamation causing the pain. try that I hope it works for you. good luck.

when you get a charlie horse, pinch your bottom lip as hard as you can until the cramp is gone. It will go away almost instantly. It really works. Its based on the principles of acupuncture. I sometimes get charlie horses and someone told me to do that and I tried it and it does get rid of it.

If you get a charlie horse you should stretch. For instance if you get it in your calf muscle then point your straight up and it usually goes away.

Yep, I think everyone covered all the possibilities: punching/hitting affected area, leg stretches, increased water intake, increased potassium/salt, ibuprofen, and focus on something else (lip biting). Or combos of these.. Good luck!

my dad's doctor told him to eat a bowl of cereal with bananas and milk. The potassium and calcium work together apparently.

Drink less soda/coffee and way more water. This works for me. If you're pregnant, it will help a little, but you'll probably still get them every now and again. Also do stretches. Hope this helps...

My mom used to hit my legs when I was a kid...not hard but like a massage, up and down the back of my legs. I would also make my husband do the same when I would get them..
