100% of the collection goes to the Church. The Church then uses all of the money to pay for their expenses - salaries, youth ministry, candles, heat, etc. The priests are paid a very small salary out of this money, only a few thousand a year.
I work at a Catholic Church, and have seen what they do with the money each week. After the collection it is given to the business manager, or whoever handles the bank account, and is deposited in the bank in order to pay the bills. The priests see very little of it.
God Bless!

I don't know. But there is a tale about it.
3 priests, one American, the other English, and the third Scottish, were speaking about how they distribute the money they collect. The American priest says: " I make a line on the ground, throw up the money, and the money that falls at the right side is for the church, the rest is for me". The English priest says: "Well, I draw a circle on the ground, the money that falls into the circle is for the church, and the rest is for me. Then the Scottish priest said: "Almost, I do the same. I throw up the money. God takes what he wants for the church. The rest is mine."

The Catholic Church is a federation of interior of reach church homes. each and each parish gets donations. How this is controlled is set with the aid of the interior of reach bishop and greater widely with the aid of well-known canon regulation. maximum parishes save their donations yet deliver a factor for the help of the diocese or eparchy they're in. Likewise, rich church homes pay an annual investment volume to the Vatican. The Vatican's funds have been in shambles till approximately ten years in the past. on an identical time as the Vatican had significant money, it refused to cut back its help of the poor, on an identical time as inflation constantly ate into them. the main excellent church homes progressed a plan to maintain the solvency of the Petrine ministry. Rome helps a much wider selection of activities than human beings comprehend. as an occasion, while the 1st Israeli conflict occured, the Pope found out that there may be hundreds of Palestinian and probably Israeli refugees. This became into till now the UN became into in the refugee corporation. this is the Vatican that fed the Palestinians and does to this present day quite often. It additionally builds irrigation structures, water structures, colleges and so on in the middle East. Likewise, it keeps the investment for somewhat some different places the place human beings might starve without it. basically a notice, interior of usa a non-married priest's gross sales is fixed at a optimal of $12,000 in step with year. i don't comprehend what they pay clergymen who're married. on the grounds that maximum clergymen are celebate interior of usa, it probably isn't a huge deal. i think of my own eparchy basically has some.

From the close relationship that i have with 2 of the churches in my area the church actually gets all the money. The money goes in to one account and the church pays for it's expenses out of that account. (elec., water, supplies, ect.) In my church there are only 2 paid people. 1 in the bookkeeper and other is the pastor. I hope this helps.

hmmm it all goes to the Church (in protestant to annual conferences, in Catholic to the diocese, in non affiliated churches it goes into their treasury). It is counted and deposited either by volunteers from the congregation or the administrator/bookkeeper into the Church's bank account and the Priest (or minister) is paid a salary by the diocese (or board of trustees) who oversee the payroll and other bill paying functions. Priests and ministers actually never touch the collection or any monetary donations, it is not part of the function of their job.
Nice try though
To the person above me the ministers are responsible for paying their own personal income taxes, ALL of their own social security and medicare taxes out of their salary (the church does not pay this for them, like a regular company would. They do pay these for their lay (non ordained) employees. But no Church worker (lay or Ordained gets unemployment (actually no one working for any non profit does) as non profits do not pay unemployment tax and insurance.
Edit: I have to smirk at the thumbs down it is funny how some people claim to love truth and fact until it does not suit their agenda.

I believe most Diocese determine what Pastors and Assistants get as salary. They don't take it from the Collection. I heard many years ago the salary of priests in our Diocese and it was laughable. They do get stipends.
