Get the verse in the Bible that prohibits tattoos.

EDIT: Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

It should be in a 'badass' Old English font, too.

Well, if you want to get one, it's your body.

I personally would not, because "atheist" describes what we are NOT rather than what we are. It is a label we have because of religious people, not by our own design. We are not afairy-ists, or a-Santa-ists, or aleprechaunists. Were it not for religion, we would all just be humans.

My atheism isn't that important to me, not tattoo important anyway - it's the journey that brought me to atheism that's more important ... rational thinking.

Rationality is the key. Atheism is just its natural result.

That said, some ideas for a tattoo of atheism... hmm. There's the standby of using japanese lettering or Greek lettering, etc. to write out the word... there's the Pink Unicorn symbol...

I think if I were to do it, I'd tie in my love of books and get my own "Scarlet Letter".

DEF. NOTHING WITH A X OVER A CROSS.That's just being too judgemental, even though every other answer here has been SO judgemental and wrong. Sorry I can't really think of a good one. But you should really get something that means a lot to you, don't let randoms pick your tattoos, especially not the hateful ones who answered this question.

I suspect that anyone who needs to display "freedom from the concept of God" is somehow still bound to the concept. It rather reminds me of people who get the number 13 tattooed on their arms to indicate that they are not superstitious. Why would anyone want to display a disbelief in an entity that doesn't exist? Would you have a tattoo that displayed your disbelief in Santa?

Do you seek freedom from the concept of God or God himself? If you want freedom from God you've already got it - he's given you the choice to live your life apart from him and when you die he will confirm your choice as he sends you to live apart from him forever. That's how much God respects your choice to be apart from him.

However, if you want freedom from the concept of God - well, that's like asking for freedom from the concept of love. You can ignore it, but that won't make it not exist.

As for what kind of symbol you should use... I dunno I've seen atheists with an angstrom A as their symbol.

I can't think of one -- it is hard to symbolize a negative. But I saw a clever decal on a car today -- it was a lens-shaped figure, with six legs and two crab-like bugeyes. The lens contained the letters FSM. And we all know what that means. RAmen!

it has three oval shaped rings that are clinged together like the olympic rings... they are entertwined... and then there is one dot on each ring.... and then there is a big A in the middle where the rings connect...

Put a cross with a big ol red circle and line over it. Just like the no smoking signs, only a cross inside.

To each his own.... <----Another saying that is good.

and understand that when other people think your wrong, tell them to PROVE it. It cannot be done. There is no FACT in religion, it's all just theory and hearsay.

PS. I am a tattoo artist.

A picture of Charles Darwin. A caveman. Anything that doe snot have a religious nature. Or perhaps the words "I worship science!".

What about a Jesus fish with a hook and sinker in its mouth and a piece of fishing line. This would say that those who believe in Jesus fell for it hook, line and sinker.
