I actually lost weight. You get so tired of seeing the same food over and over. And you may taste or nibble on something, but that's not a meal. And the heat and the stress, all you want to do is go home and sleep without having dinner. Plus you drink a lot of water to stay hydrated in the kitchen which makes you less hungry.
I know people say to never trust a skinny cook, but that's bull. It means that you're busy, running your butt off, and don't have time to sit down to a 16 oz. prime rib.
I lost 40 pounds by being a cook.

No, you actually are either to busy to eat or you just get tired of the food, but I never gained weight in all the time I was a chef, you could make 6 figures if you are really good and get in the right place. Average is probably 50K to 60K per yr.

I'm skinny as hell and i'm constantly grazing on the line.... the constant heat burns calories, and the always being around food and being busy kills your appetite... oh and we don't make 50k a year... i guess it depends on where you are but you're lucky to get about 30k as a line cook, so if you are just starting to consider it, 50k is many years away. (don't let that dissuade you though, it's a great job, restaurant people are cool as hell)

depends on YOU. do you have self control? do you know when to stop 'testing'? do you have a regular exercise routine, do you keep fit? see, its the person, not the career. any job you can get fat on.
