Not unless you have received the Holy Spirit into your heart.
You are right that the Bible says this about the human heart:
" The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it?"
Jeremiah 17:9
But the promise of God through faith in the Gospel is this:
"The time is coming," declares the LORD,
"when I will make a new covenant
with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah.
It will not be like the covenant
I made with their forefathers
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they broke my covenant,
though I was a husband to them, "
declares the LORD.
"This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel
after that time," declares the LORD.
"I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
No longer will a man teach his neighbor,
or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,'
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest,"
declares the LORD.
"For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more."
(Jeremiah 31:31-34)
That is why it says:
"But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
(Romans 10:8-13)
You see, when we believe the Gospel from our heart, God changes our hearts and causes us to be born again, born of the Spirit.
Only then can we begin to truly understand the Word of God.

what is the difference in interpreting through the mind as compared interpreting through the heart. Does the heart have a thought process. As far as the bible is concerned the heart means the mind . So when you interpret with your heart you are actually just giving your opinion. You need to get a Strong's Concordance , it will help you know the meaning of words used in the bible. I started out watching shepherds chapel on television it is out of Gravette Arkansas. It is on almost 24/ 7 . I and a few other christians on R&S watch it.
Can't be beat . And I have checked him out six ways from sunday. He doesn't teach false doctrine. And is not trying to get into your pocket.

The Bible says the heart is wicked and deceitful, who can know it? When we lean to our own understanding, we come up lacking. Having said that, we can understand the Bible only through the Holy Spirit. He is given to us for many purposes and teaching us is one of the really good things He does. Though He lives in our heart, it is not our heart that interprets the Word.
What scripture are you reading that says "Jeus said a person's heart would never lead them astray"?

In my opinion the answer is definitely, yes.
A small Sufi, (Mystical Islam), follower addresses the question:
God has placed a small ray of light in mans heart, that is called the (Ruh or Soul). This ray of light is responsible for
what we call life. Each and every one of the Prophets have talked to man concerning the soul. It seems that all of the "Wisdom", concerning the Soul, spoken through the Prophets has fallen on deaf ears.
All of the Prophets talked to man concerning their heart, and the necessity to cleanse it well. This has also fallen on deaf ears.
It is a clear heart that allows the mind to interpret the scriptures of all the spiritual paths with any clarity.
Jesus said that the heart is where the truth would be found.
I will follow Jesus teaching regarding the heart being the abode of "Truth & Wisdom". For those that have faith I think
this would be an excellant path to follow also!

Jesus said a person's heart would never lead them astray?
What Bible are you reading?
After reading what Jesus has said below about the human heart, maybe you'll think twice about trusting it.
The Bible interprets itself through other scriptures within the text. The Holy Spirit teaches it to us.
(John 14:26 "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.")

No, bc as sinners, our hearts are corrupt. The only way to read it is with guidance from the Holy Spirit, so pray for that, and then read. You should also ask questions, often we may get one idea, and another person has another, and by combining many ideas you can get closer to the truth. This isn't bc the Bible is trying to be vague, it's just that sometimes God is hard to understand, He is the most complex being in the universe after all. Sometimes it takes more thought to comprehend Him.

Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
1 Cor. 2:14 - The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
In short, God's Word is spiritually discerned, meaning that the mere fleshly person cannot understand His word unless the Spirit unplugs our deaf ears, opens our blind eyes, and regenerates our dead heart (Titus 3:5). The Spirit then enables us to discern and understand the Truths and mysteries of God.
Also, scripture should be interpreted based on it's context and other scripture along with its genre - such as psalms and wisdom, historical, apocolyptic language, etc.

Yes. Don't listen to people. They will lead you astray. Listen to Jesus Christ. He is the shepherd. Learn his voice. Listening to someone else interpret the Bible can be dangerous given the fact that some people have impure motives and may have an agenda to lead you astray from God.

The problem with the bible is that it has to be interpretted. If you find it confusing have problems finding the answers to your questions, I highly recommend reading the Quran. All the questions that used to go through my mind when I would try to interpret this or that in the bible I found answers to in the Quran. Don't be afraid to look for the answers to your questions in it, you will find it easy to understand and easy to follow. Jesus would be very pleased if you did :-)
Oh, and the critiscim you get from your "fellow" christians, you won't find with the Quran or its followers if you have questions, we would love to help you.
Peace and Blessings of God upon you
