The date used for the obsolescence date for the credit reporting period depends on the type of debt being reported.

Since I don't know what type of negative you are asking about, I'll just mention the reporting start date for some of the general negative accounts that report for 7 years --

Credit cards start from the first time you were 30 days late and never brought the account current leading to the charge off.

General bank loans are from the last payment

Repo's are from the date the vehicle was sold creating the deficiency

Medical is from the date of service.
