I have been looking after a family's children for 12 months now. The baby is 13 months old and is beautiful. The little boy has just turned three. I have them a minumum of 3 nights a week after creche. My problem is they are still giving the 3 year old bottles!! HE has one in the morning and one at night b4 bed. Its only cows milk. They just give it to him when he asks but i really dont know why! He only ask me for them occasionally and i give them to him since he is not my kid! I know its not really my place to mention it to them but maybe is there someting discreet i can do? I cant believe he even wants them at three!

You can't believe he still wants it? He needs the security as being raised by someone besides mommy is very hard on a kid and a pretty lousy life - especially as you seem to be saying that they're already in another day care before they see you. how utterly horribly awfully terrible for these poor kids.

why worry about bottles, worry about the horrible life they're giving these poor kids.

When you are watching him just don't give him the bottle. I don't know of many people that give their kids bottles at 3 yrs. Maybe you could buy him a "big boy sippy cup" Make a really big deal about it to him and tell him how much of a big boy he is.

Besides his teeth, and that may not be much of a health concern, I wouldnt put up a big fuss over this. We have a 3 and 2 year old, and it was tough to make the 3 year old (when younger) give up the bottle when the younger one had one.

Try offering a sippy cup? I don't know. I wouldn't make an issue about it. My little brother never took a bottle though. We walked to this mom and pop fast food place every day, and he went from the breast to the cup with a straw. Try that, too. The cup with the straw, that is.

It's not good for his teeth, and besides that his parents are making it that much more difficult to wean him from it.
