I live in Utah and we have had several immigration raids over the past 6 months where over a hundred people were arrested for false documents. One lady said that she didn't hurt the person that she stole the identity from because she only used it to work, and yet that lady lost social security benefits because her number showed she was working and now she is having a very hard time. Another person said that they had to break the law because our laws make it impossible for them to work legally if they are in the country illegally. Now there are community centers, churches, and other programs that are helping the people that were arrested and their families to fight the government and their deportation. The people knew they were stealing identities and yet did it any ways. How is that any different than walking into a bank and robbing it? Wrong is wrong. Am I right or is it me that doesn't understand?

To the person that said think about what you would do...well, I have a son and yes I can see some of their points, but I would do it legally. I am considering relocating out of this country and I do not think of doing it without going through the proper paperwork and waiting. Some of the peoblems I have with this whole situtation, is that I am a single parent and as poor as they come, yet I am constantly being told that I can't get assistance because there are more Hispanics out there that need it. I work for a living and can barely make the rent, but my neighbor (yes an illegal immigrant from Mexico City) doesn't work and has had a car bought for her and her rent is paid by someone else. Call me bitter, maybe--but think about the hospitals in Arizona that had to shut down because they were overrun with people there just for the healthcare, or the school system going to a dual immersion program because 85% of the students speak spanish only (this is my son's school)

Let me just add to the person that said it is illegal for companies to knowingly hire with false documents--these are NOT false documents--they are valid SS Numbers to real life living people.

You may not like the answer to this question, but it's a matter of law.

You have two choices. Either become legally naturalized and become a citizen or obtain a green card.

The number of people in this nation illegally has grown so far out of control that measures that hurt those who tried to fit in are going to be hurt. This cannot be helped.

We are a nation of law. Please understand that people born here are sick to death of those who won't do things the right way. It is not enough to say you're doing the work others won't do.

Get legal or go back where you have legal status. And don't ask for our sympathy. We've given enough.

You're absolutely right!

Psi Chi is SPINNING IT AGAIN!!!! Nobody is "TERRORIZING" children at all. No one is permantly separating children from parents! They're perfectly free to take them home!

Why are illegal immigrants SOOOOOOO special? If my dad did something criminal, he'd have had to go to jail for a while and, yes, I'd have had to stay with an aunt or friend or something. Do the crime/do the time.

Jim M: Who had the family? Did I? Hell no! I've never had any kids despite desperately wanting a family. And I won't until I have the money to give them a decent life. They're HUMANS! Not Kittens. And they're gonna be MY problem and MY responsibility. Not the government of Tasmania.

Oh, maybe I'll just change my mind and have a couple dozen. Think maybe I could get all the "undocumented workers" to build schools, pay medical bills, provide clean water, good roads, pay me to work every day real hard, and if they didn't and I cried "I'm being racially discriminated against!" do you think they'd all band together and criticize one another for being racist? Don't hold your breath.

If these people had worked half as hard and smart as my parents and grandparents, their countries would be as rich as the US and Canada. Maybe even richer.

PS: To Mendoza

Sorry for the tone, and THANK YOU VERY MUCH for serving in our Army! I wish you the best but still must discourage illegal entry. We should let those qualified and willing to serve (as you are) have a chance.

Spotter...

Yes that is the law. Sometimes it's infuriating but it's there for a very good reason. And, in murder cases as in immigration, it works both ways: Darlie Routier, currently on death row, is the mother of two slain boys. All the most exonerating evidence was withheld from the jury.

What do YOU people not understand. I keep seeing " oh what's wrong with those illegals. They should just go back and then immigrate through legal channels." HELLO PEOPLE- wake up and learn something about US immigration policies.
It is nearly impossible for most immigrants to enter this country if they are coming from non-EU countries or are ineligible for the visa lottery (ie their country regularly reaches US immigration quotas)
Here are their options:
1. Marry a US citizen
2. Be sponsored by a US company- involves a huge expense for the company, so this is quite rare. Does happen for people who have high-level (Phd) degrees in some fields like engineering
For those who don't have these options, their only way here is to come illegally or overstay a tourist visa (and even those are hard to get if you're from Mexico).
Bottom line-
99% DON'T HAVE A CHOICE which way to do it. College-educated people there work all week and maybe make $40 a week. They come here, illegally, because they have NO LEGAL ALTERNATIVE.

You're absolutely right.

Illegal is illegal - no matter what situation you're in. Just because someone is poor, does it give them the right to steal from others and/or rob a bank? Does that justify their criminal acts? Most certainly not.

Sure, as Americans, we are very fortunate and blessed to have had great forefathers who have worked so hard to give us what we may benefit from today. However, we are a nation of laws. Without laws we'd fail. There would be no civilization. People need to deal with the cards they've been dealt and take the legal course of action every chance possible - they can't blame others for their misfortunes.

No, you are not wrong - seems to me you understand the problem perfectly. All illegal immigrants need to be ousted from this country and there should be no leniency and giving of "a path to citizenship," etc. They all need to go and if they want to return, do it through the legal channels. We have our own poor who are not being helped enough and so we need to take care of our own first. These people are seriously harming the lives of legal citizens when they steal their identities and they should not be allowed to sugar coat their actions by saying it is "to have a better life and provide for their families." That doesn't excuse the illegality of their actions any more than it excuses a legal citizen who breaks a law. Get 'em ALL out!

In law, evidence obtained illegally is not admissible in court. If a suspect's house was searched without the proper search warrant, even if they find the murder weapon, the bloodied shirt, and the victim's purse, all that will be thrown out of court. The suspect will be sent free.

Fair? Of course not! But that is the law.

An illegal comes into the country. Even if that person rivals Mother Theresa in kindness to american children, volunteers 25 hours a day, follows all the laws, that is of no value. That person is still an illegal alien and must be deported. No matter what race, religion, color, or nationality.

Fair? Of course not? Sorry, but that is the law.**

Yes it is wrong, if a illegal had broken the law they should be deported. If the church's and community centers want to help they should do it the legal way by helping them received amnesties. This one of the many reasons why our social security system is failing.

I think the majority of the people understand completely what illegal immigration is doing to our country, those that truly care about our children's and country's future anyway. I fear for our own children's future if we don't end this problem now.
Your understanding of the problem is 100% on target.
They seem to think they are doing nothing wrong and stealing someone else's SS# is perfectly ok,because they are only trying to make a better life for their family. Their better life is at the expense of the innocent person who's # has been stolen.

Amen... ALL ILLEGALS NEED TO BE DEPORTED. THEY ARE CRIMINALS. I dont care what people say about protecting or doing better for your family... i would never do anything ILLEGAL and put my children in jepordy. America needs to understand that no matter where these illegals are from, THEY NEED TO BE SENT HOME, and the law that just because you are born on US soil makes you a citizen needs to be modified. I agree that if your parents are LEGAL immigrants or citizens then their children are citizens. But illegal CRIMINALS should be DEPORTED as soon as the mom and baby are healthy enough to travel. Bring on the thumbs down call me racest, but my grand father was a LEGAL immigrant who ALSO WANTED A BETTER LIFE FOR HIS FAMILY and DID IT LEGALLY. I'm tired of seeing legal, tax paying immigrant's and citizen's mone going to CRIMINAL ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT'S healthcare, education, ect. DOWN WITH ILLEGAL CRIMINALS. And ALL illegals are criminals.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

You are correct.. it isn't right, my good friend was a victim of identity theft.. by her neighbor, born right here. Identity theft is a huge problem, a lot of it goes on via the Internet and that isn't illegals perpetuating it, if you deport everyone of them, It would still happen, granted they are guilty of it, but not all of it like people here would have you believe, secondly, what part of illegal doesn't ANYONE understand, you say hospitals in Arizona have closed? not here in Phoenix they haven't, in fact we just built 2 new ones, wanna know a REAL problem here? red light runners.. know how many they kill and maim every year? Seen all of those folks on the 101 everyday on the news? 100 miles per hour.. some caught several times by camera in one month, what part of ILLEGAL don't those folks understand? How about that little cheating on the income tax.. illegal? you bet.. but everything we do is OK because we are LEGAL citizens.. I say rubbish.. illegal is illegal.. what part doesn't EVERYONE understand ???
