pie-pie, im not really racist... But I've had to deal with racism my whole life. So if it sounds like I'm a bit bitter, I don't mean it. I believe everyone is equal, but I've met a whole lot of white people that didn't agree. So, I hope you understand.

No more bitter than I had to grow up being hispanic. I have MANY reason why I could've turned out "racist," but didn't being only "3rd" generation in the US. "Racism" comes from those who SEEK an excuse out of what we all have to do in life to get ahead. I have had to work since the age of 5 in the fields with my parents listening to unkind remarks about us "mexicans." Know what I did to overcome the "bitterness?" Stuck my head in books to gain several degrees. ALL of us have a choice. Sit and listen to those who degrade us or show them WORDS, especially ignorant ones, comes a dime a dozen......

I'm curious as to why you asked this question. Either you've come across some individuals who made this claim, or you're looking back in history and judging modern-day whites to those of the past.
I personally don't feel any superiority due to the colour of my skin, but I know there are people in my town who present that sort of thought. A lot of their feelings are based on the fact that all their friends are white, and they equate different skin colour as being of a different culture or way of life, and it's that which they seem to fear the most, not the actual skin.
I believe this is the truth for much of the world: there is a lot of racism presented, but it's not necessarily caused by a feeling of superiority as it is a fear of change, of not seeing what they are used to seeing.
I certainly don't think my brain functions better than anybody else's...I do some pretty dumb stuff from time to time.
Also, I think the media has a lot to do with it. A lot of television shows and movies portray African Americans (one of many other groups) as being "gangster" and "ghetto-oriented" etc. I won't lie at all, and this may sound racist, but I can't help but feel a sense of superiority to the culture that is protrayed there, but not because of race, it's because of lifestyle. There's just no good reason to all carry guns and do drive-bys etc.
Don't misinterpret, I don't think all Af-Ams live this way, and I guarantee that most of them would have the same feeling as me towards the negative culture portrayed.
Wow, I was all over with that, so I hope I got the message across.
As a white, I don't feel superiority over any other race. As a person, I DO feel some superiority over the unnecessarily destructive cultures that exist.

Born in the 60's myself. there was a vast difference between my perspective and my parents. They're catching up. Do you realize that white supremeousy ended with I HAVE A DREAM?

Yes, there are stray ******* around. Ignore them. Even if I considered my parents to be less tolerant. That generation born after them was wayyyyyy weeded out.

It was music to my ears when my mother admitted to me a few years ago that she didn't understand what the rioting was about then, but she had come to understand it over her lifetime. I thought "wow", so it's a process of healing, what must have been a real shock to the system. Can you imagine rather than enjoying the world as we know it, (and seem to take for granted), we watched it change overnight and YOU had to adjust, and raise your children differently. They didn't taint me, I'm grateful for that.

Like I said, the strays shouldn't be allowed to speak for the world as a whole.

This was a good question. Where-ever you decided to put it. Geez, who cares! If you answered it, it was in the right place. Anyway, I'm addressing the "all white people think they are superior, they just don't say it", statement. That statement and others like it, have caused so much damage over the years. This is not even evident and yet it is thrown in the face of those with white skin, time and time again. It quite simply ties my hands.

I'm not racist. I want this issue resolved/healed, whatever. Over time it has become a horse beating itself. Makes no sense. I've never met any one white or black who introduced themselves defined by their skin. Let those actions speak. This latest incident with the Black Community leaders making endorsers pull back their support and fired that DJ for making a racist statement is really addresses the issue that is present. Degradation of women in R & B.

Let's just put the cards on the table here, okay? There ARE physical differences between the different races... how can you deny the skin color difference, or hair, etc. To acknowledge THESE differences is a "racial" thing, but NOT a RACIST thing.

RACISM is when you ascribe VALUES to the racial differences... i.e. blacks are better than whites because.... or whites are superior to orientals due to.... whatever.

As for myself, being a caucasian, I do not feel that the racial differences of my "color" makes me superior OR inferior to any other race. The physical differences are viewed as "neutral"... making no race better or worse than another, but I will always acknowledge that there are racial differences. However, these days, with so many people intermarrying the races, those differences are becoming less distinct. It's like we are creating a "pooled" race ... the true "human" race... where differences are less and less.

Yes, I am white. No, I do not believe that any race is superior to another. No, I do not think that any of my physical attributes have any dominance over any other races. No, my brain function is just as able as the next guy's does.

For that matter the only area that I see the white people having any superiority in is in the fact that they are the only race that doesn't feel the need to dominate any other race at this point since our ancestors did this for so long in our history.

I'd like to tell you that there are no white/caucasian people out there who think they are superior to black/African American people. However, I think we both know that would be a lie. Racism still exists in America (as well as other places in the world) and it's probably not going to completely disappear anytime soon since it unfortunately sometimes takes societies hundreds of years, if not longer, to change their ways of thinking about things. If I've learned one thing over and over it's that uneducated people usually perpetuate most of the antiquated and flat-out blantantly wrong/dangerous ideologies that we see in our world, such as black people being inferior. The only people who truly believe in this laughable idea are the ones who are ignorant and small-minded. Unfortunatley we can't just round up all these trouble makers and put them on a deserted island away from the rest of society (which would be nice :) My only advice for you if you've been running into this problem a lot is to just continue to hold your head up high and be strong. It can certainly be hard to deal with being viewed by others as "inferior," but try not to let it get to you. There are a lot of good people out there that don't give a hoot about the color of a person's skin; I'm one of them :)

There was a book called The Bell Curve which stated that one race was genetically superior over another. It gave examples of test scores and children of one race being raised by another. They came to the conclusion that there is such a thing as being genetically superior in intelligence. The book was disputed by some and esteemed by others. I found it interesting; but very flawed and agree with the reviewer stating it was scientific racism.

The Bell Curve is a controversial, best-selling 1994 book by Richard J. Herrnstein and Charles Murray exploring the role of race and genes in American life. Named for the bell-shaped normal distribution of IQ scores, the book claims that Americans of high intelligence form a "cognitive elite" who have a significantly higher-than-average chance of succeeding in life, as do their children. The book became widely read and debated due to its discussion of race and intelligence in Chapters 13 and 14, where the authors make the controversial claim that blacks, on average, are innately less intelligent than whites and Asians.
Shortly after publication, large numbers of people rallied both to criticize and defend the book. Some critics denounced the book and its authors as supporting scientific racism.

No - not really. White people are predisposed to certain diseases, that other races are not. But, on the other hand other races have certain conditions that they are predisposed to that white people are not. Pretty much evens us out in the end.

I never understood why the color of your skin determine how 'worthy' you were. It's not something you can control, nor does it appear to be something that limits. Except in the minds of those bound up in appearances.

Honestly - when I was a little girl I used to love the dark skinned women. I thought they were incredibly beautiful. (I still do). The deep midnight of their skin is stunning. I was jealous of them - and hated my pasty skin. I could not understand why I was told that I was lucky to be born with light skin. I didn't see any difference between us. And even now, when I meet people, race is the last thing I notice. Usually someone will point it out to me (such as - look at that interracial couple) before I notice.

first it is wrong to group ALL types of people together based on SOME of the people. That question was asked in a defensive way, you are defensive about the issue and the way you asked it caused others to feel defensive and not give you the type of information you were looking for. I doubt there is only one thing you can say about all white people or any people for that matter. Don't generalize about people or you will be put in a category you might not like.

Good question. Obviously most white people think they're superior even if they won't say it. I don't believe that myself. I believe God created all human with same brain, the ability to think, act, and use the knowledge he gives each one of us. Blacks are a very unfortunate race that whites mistreat for years thinking that they were inferior which wasn't true. Because they didn't let them go to school like white kids and wouldn't give them any opportunity to learn, of course they seem to be inferior coz of lack of education.
I know that God reserve a day to judge all racists who think they are superior because all human beings are equal to me and God Himself.
God bless you and don't be bitter but work harder on yourself to prove that you're not inferior.
