I've heard that there were other people on earth as an answer from my church, but that doesn't make sense. & I believe in God and such but it seems as if a lot of the bible is just stories, like the ones mommy and daddy read you before bed to keep the monsters under the bed away. I hate the fact i think that way but as i think about it in depth, that's all i can come up with. I believe Christ died on the cross and was sent to save our sins, but i almost think i believe it because i can't imagine us as people living our entire lives... just to die?

Ok Kim you heard the rest now hear the ****. The bible teaches that on the 6th day god created MAN, you know, as in PEOPLE ! It also states that on the 7th day he rested. After that doesn't it state that he created adam and eve? Now think Kim , doesn't that mean that there was at least 2 days between the creating of MAN and adam and eve. To prove my point doesn't it say that when god was about to throw cain out of the garden of eden that cain complained to god that if He threw him out that everone he met would try to kill him for the murder of abel. Well who are these everyone ?
It is true that adam and eve were not the only ones on earth at that time. The bible states that cain went to a town east of eden called Nod and took a wife there She was part of the peoples that were create on the 6th day. So there was no incest or inbreeding . Dont let people tell you that crap. Now we have some people saying that adam had a wife before eve named Lilith. Not so. Lilith is perported to be kind of like a female ogre. You know Harrasser of pregnant women scarrer of little children etc. Now if cain married her which is a possibility I would call it poetic justice. But I don't know if he did nor do I care. Just read the first 5 pages of the bible and check me out, it is a easy and quick read . If you are not satisfied with my explanation I am an easy person to find. Email that is.

I used to ask this question all the time when I was younger. I mean, if there weren't any other people around, everyone would have been inbreds, right? An elderly woman explained something to me one morning in church when I was 15. She told me that God did not write the bible (obviously) and the people who did write it weren't even around during the time of Adam and Eve. They wrote the story of Adam and Eve based on what they were told. God did not tell them that information. Not everything in the bible is to be taken literally. There could have been other people around...it just was not mentioned in the bible. No one really knows for sure what things were like when human life began. Also, God obviously created other people, since there are so many different races. That explanation helped me out. I hope it will help you too.

The Bible says Adam & Eve were FIRST not the ONLY people else the son wouldn't have been able to get a wife in the land of Nod. The deeper that I got into religion the more confusing it became. I felt that I was in the "wrong" religion so I studied and tried a few more and guess what ??they were all confusing and riduculous and answered questions with an even more silly question. I do not knock anyone's belief. I am glad that they have "found their way" but to me all the religion stories are looney tunes and I guess that is why I became "non-religious" And no it is not unimaginable to live your whole life and just die. In my Opinion--The purpose is live the best life you can, touch as many peoples lives as you can in a positive way -MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Well, it all depends if you believe in Adam and Eve as true creation. Even though I am Christian, I do not believe this tale as the beginning of humans on Earth. I believe it is, like many other Bible stories (especially OT) is allegory to teach a lesson. So the fact that their wives just appear isn't inconsistant, it just makes things continue.

Adam and Eve is a big lesson on listening to the rules, especially God's (Eve) as well as not being swayed into doing what you know is wrong (Adam). Of course the serpant represents Satan whispering in our ears in smooth, silky and convincing manner to go against the laws of God. It tells us that no matter how good the deal sounds you should not go for it if it against His laws.

Sounds like somebody's got some 'splainin to do.

Anyway, I kinda know what you mean about the Jesus thing. I also believe that he was born as a normal birth, though not the Immaculate Conception theory (hogwash). And I believe that he could have been a good person...but not the miracle mumbo jumbo. I can understand why he was tried and punished by the Jews for disrupting their money making schemes in the church. And I believe that he could have been crucified (nailed to a cross) - cruel and unusual punishment, to say the least. But I just can't buy that raising from the dead story. I didn't buy it when I was an 8 year old kid and I still can't see it as an adult.

There are more stories, not included in the bible. There is a story of Adam and his first wife Lilith. So there must have been other people. Not to mention that human fossils show that we lived long before the people in the bible existed on earth.

Firstly, If there were other people, then we are not all descendents of Adam and Eve. Which means that we are not all born with the sin perpetrated by Adam and Eve. Bible wrong again?

Secondly, animals don't worry about just living and then dying. It is what happens. It is only man who can't accept the inevitable, and feels the need to create the hope of something after death.

I really feel the way you do sometimes and it seems some of the bible couldn't be real but I can't truthfully answer your question because the fact is I don't know but, I do see strange signs and wondershappening in our day that are a confirment of the bible but again some things I just don't understand in perspective and I can just pray God reveals it to me.

Genesis 5:4~ This verse said that Adam had daughters as well. Cain and Abel were the first two.

"After he begot Seth the days of Adam were eight hundred years; and he had sons and daughters"

After Seth, Adam lived 800 more years and had other sons and daughters. Based on the theory that at the time the gene pool would not have been messed up, Cain simply married his sister.

unfavorable Seth, the 0.33 son, keeps getting skipped over. they could have had daughters, yet they have a tendency now to not get said in historic texts. It also does no longer exclude the chance that they could were the first, yet no longer inevitably the in basic terms one created. Cain left Eden for the land of Nod, east of Eden (Genesis 4). So there might want to were others. this can, for sure, be per texts written by bronze-age adult adult males, which could were translated and suffered transcription blunders over the years. it isn't uncomplicated to understand the truth of the tale upon which this grow to be depending. The apocrypha are literally not banned, they are in basic terms no longer lined or huge-spread as canon textual content for the bible. .
