If I have a lightbulb that does not work anymore still in its electrical socket and have the switch for the light on, would it waste electricity or would it do nothing?

That depends upon the type of light bulb and whether it is switched on or not. A regular incandescent light bulb will not use energy after it burns out whether it is switched on or not. However a fluorescent bulb will use energy even after it has burned out if it is switched on.

No,there must be a circut or a circle of power usage.If there is nothing burning in the socket,the circut is broken.Just as if you had turned of the light switch.All that does is provide or deny a circut.

No it would do nothing. The filament in the wire has burned up in a certain place and therefore no current can flow through the wire and emit light.

No, a burnt out bulb uses no energy.

it doesn't do anything at all if the light is broken the electrical circuit is incomplete so therefor it's not using any energy at all.

No, if the filament is broken no electricity can travel, thus it wont waste any.
