After 2 to 4 hours, you can take off the bandage.
You can take a shower, not too long and not too hot.
Do not let the shower run directly on the new tat.
It will not be comfortable to wash it, but keep it clean.
Use your hand to wash your arm, (gently)don't scrub.
When you get out, just pat it dry, don't rub. Use the
ointment for 4 to 6 days, 3 or 4 times a day, depending on how it is healing. Then just use a good oil free moisturizer at least 2 or 3 times a day. Keep using the moisturizer, until
it is completely healed. For now keep it out of the sun and out of chlorine pools. When it is healed, if you are out in the direct sun, use a good sunscreen. Protect Your Investment.

Very nice design. My very first tattoo was a dragon on the back of my shoulder.
Anyway, what my artist always says is to leave it covered for a few hours, and then you can wash it as soon as you uncover it, if you want. I usually fill the sink with warm water and use my hand to splash water on to it, then use some gentle soap (this past time I used baby soap, but pretty much anything is fine. I just happened to have baby wash close by), rub it on gently with your hand, and then rinse it off. Pat it dry with a soft towel, and then put the ointment on.
If you prefer cold water to warm, that's fine. The temperature isn't important at all.
The tattoo will start to scab over and get itchy, but the most important thing is to NOT SCRATCH. Scratching will pull the color right out, and you'll be left with blotchy patches. I usually carry the ointment around with me, and every time it started to itch, I put some on. This usually lasts me about 5 days, and then I put lotion on whenever I think about it for about another week.
Continue to wash it gently everytime you're in the shower, but take care not to let the water spray on it for about a week.
I always used Tattoo Goo or Aquaphor on mine, and had great results.
After it heals, you may need to get some patches of color redone, and many artists do this for free if it's within a month or two of having the tattoo done. And after that, just be sure that whenever you go out, you put a high SPF sunscreen on. On your arm, your tat will get lots of sun, and every time you get a burn or a dark tan, the color will fade a little bit.
Good luck, and be careful! Tattoo's are very addicting. Pretty soon you'll be like me, and having an appointment next Friday to get Number 8!

gawd...
wash your arm by splashing cool to warm water. not hot. dont spray, keep out any situation where your arm would be in constant contact with water. like a bath, a pool, lakes etc for 30 days. use a paper towel not your bath towel to PAT dry. dont wipe or smear. apply a very very thin coating of the ointment he gave you 4X a day (after washing) also, always wash your hands 1st then your tat. no sun for 30 days either.

you should wash your arm with warm water and antibacterial soap. use only your fingertips to wash it, no wash cloth or sponge. wash it 4 times a day, let it air dry and then apply the ointment he gave you. i keep my tattoos moisturized for the full two weeks after getting work done or until the tattoo is the same texture as the rest of my skin.

I would do whatever your tattoo artist told you to do. I would just keep reapplying the ointment for a few days and gently wiping off that as it gets dirty and then wait til the puffiness goes down. Good luck!
Nice tattoo. :)

Well on mine what i was told is no baths or hot tubs. showers are okay. keep it moist and clean. along with the tattoo goo use unscented dial. don't use Vaseline, a and d, or anything with lanolin or petroleum. since that stuff tends to pull out the color and fade them. when they itch don't scratch and good luck

mild soap and waters fine.
use like Aquafor for a week or so- the tat will scab and peel and itch so be patient and dont scratch!!
afterbout a week switch to a nonmedicated like Cleral

i was told to use unscented antibacterial soap
and an unscented oil free lotion like aveeno.
you can shower, but you shouldn't let it soak in the water.
so no swimming
and also no tanning.
most importantly don't pick at the scabs.
