It started roughly about a week ago. It was taking me longer to fall asleep then normal, and then last night (the 24th) I climbed in to bed at 11 (i like to get my sleep lol) but i kept tossing and turning and the last time i looked at the clock it said 1, and it was still a little while afterwards to when i finally fell asleep. Any help would be greatly appreciated, any theories would be welcome too. Thanks.

Your problem may be due to your activity shortly before going to bed. For instance, the light from the computer screen concentrated on the retina for a long period of time will re-set your body clock. It is best to stop using the computer at least one hour before going to bed.

I have read that mild exercise before bed can help, but if you do too much, or very rigorous exercise, it will have the opposite affect.

It often helps to read in bed before trying to sleep.
Good luck and sweet dreams.

Depends on many things. I would say a little exercise definitely would not hurt. I would work out for a bit in the evening and do some strecthing before bed.

Buy a sleep mask.

Try some Tylenol PM or Execederin PM.

Chamomile Tea.

Count sheep.

Read a really boring book.

Cut down on caffeine especially in the late night hours. Don't over stimulate yourself, by watching anything to action pact or suspensful. Don't destract yourself with having the tv on or the radio on when you try to sleep. Try a fan blowing on you, get a memory foam pad for your bed if its getting uncomfortable.
And if all that doesn't work, try some tylenol Pm it has something to help you fall asleep, and its better then using cold medicine. You also can talk to your doctor about a prescription sleep aid.

Are you stressed out or taking naps in the middle of the day? Try taking a warm bath before going to bed. And try not to force yourself to go to sleep. Read a book or watch TV until you know that you can't stay awake any more. You can try taking Simply Sleep. Its a non addictive sleeping pill that you can buy over the counter in any drug store.

Are you taking any medications? A LOT of medications, over the counter ones included, has a side effect of insomnia. You might want to look them up and read the doctor's version of the note (prescribing information) to see what side effects are possible.

Usually, in doctor's version of the note, far more information are revealed. You'd be surprised what was experienced in clinical trials.

Also, if you take anything with caffeine in it, even coke or tea, it takes 6 to 12 hours for your body to get rid of all the caffeine. One cup/glass during lunch can cause you to have problem at night. Try stopping them altogether and see.

When such things happen to me, I plugged earphone on my ear and listen to soothing music to make me fall asleep. You might have something running on your mind that make you difficult to close your eyes. Try to relax, empty your mindset and look forward to the next day.

It may not work for you, or anyone else, but I love to hear the soft ticking of a wall clock. It is kind of like a "counting the sheep" thing, if you will.

Try doing math problems in your head. Long division, multiplying decimals, cross-products, adding fractions. It doesn't have to be rocket science, but it distracts you from whats going on around you, and before you know it you're asleep.
