Psychiatrists do not treat hyperthyroidism.
Your primary care physician (internist or family practitioner) can diagnosis and treat hyperthyroidism after a diagnosis has been made following a simple blood test. Your doctor can then put you on medication to regulate your thyroid function. Follow-up blood tests must be done to assure that your thyroid is functioning normally. Sometimes, adjustments must be made in the meds prescribed.

You probably will be referred to an endocrinologist who will examine you and review your lab tests and meds as well as symptoms you are experiencing. Many times it is recommended that your hyperthyroidism be treated with radiation therapy (radioisotope). Everything is specifically calibrated to the individual patient and the dosage is swallowed in the Radiology Department of the hospital.

They might be able to help with some of the psychological effects of hyperthyroidism, but you should see a doctor, preferably an endocrinologist, about the hyperthyroidism.

No, medication does. If one were anorexic or bulimic and that is the cause of the thyroid disorder, it may not be reversible and have other effects on the body. The thyroid is a very serious part of your body that shouldn't be played with.

Endocrinologists.

Psychiatrists don't believe anyone has a physical problem unless that person is bleeding out in front of them, and even then, they'll try to blame that individual.
