YES for both!!!
Many, if not all of the people who are against it are highly religious people who don't have any major diseases that could be cured by stem cells or advancements made by stem cell research.
I'm sure that if all of those people were to get an incurable disease like diabetes or muscular dystrophy, they would favor stem cell research because those diseases are prime candidates for being cured through the use of stem cells.
Also, the argument that embryos have to be destroyed, therefore killing a potential human being, has one flaw in its design: Embryos are very often unsuccessful at attaching themselves to the uterine wall, resulting in them being expelled and in the process dying.
So, assuming that destroying an embryo is immoral and against religious teachings,
EVERY FEMALE ON THIS PLANET IS GOING TO HELL FOR MURDER!!!!!!!!!!!
(assuming there is such thing as hell)
So, knowing that billions and billions of possible humans are naturally killed anyways, what's the matter with harvesting stem cells from embryos from IVF facilities, when many embryos are destroyed after the donor female succeeds in becoming pregnant. Because at least through stem cell research they could be of some use to man kind

Yes. We could find out how to cure major diseases, like altzhimers or parkinsons. Or even cancer.
Adult stem cell lines have been exhausted. The only real research at this point is being done on embryonic stem cell lines.
It's done on discarded fetuses - they aren't killing them for the research, they are using ones that are dead already. It's like being an organ donor. And that's considered a good thing.
If the US doesn't do it, other countries will - and we will no longer be the technological leaders of the world. We're losing ground to China, Japan, and South Korea as we speak.

First of all, the USA doesn't control the rest of the world's research. For those who think that their particular religious beliefs are the law of the land, don't participate if you don't want to, but don't try to dominate the rest of us. Many embryos will be discarded anyway, and destroyed, so why not put those salvageable cells to work within another life?
Consider it the ultimate form of recycling, and be thankful
as there could be a time when you are in need of something.
Best wishes to all open minded folks out there

Yes for adult stem cells, but not for embryo. An embryo is a living baby and it's life should not be sacrificed.

YES for embryos. It's a lot of religious bull if you think what is basically a ball of blastocysts is alive at the point where they need the cells.

it should definately continue. there are many diseases and contditions that could be cured with the research going on. the embryos that are beeing used are ones that are destined for t he landfill anyway they are unwanted leftovers from invitro fertilization, rather than throw them out donate them to science, just like your body when you are done living in it!!
