what cat toy do you recommend?

i am looking for a fun cat toy that my cats would enjoy. they are all siamese and are very picky.

The Cat Dancer. It's a long piece of wire with some little cardboard bits on the end (kind of like pieces of shopping bag handle). I used to teach feral cats to play by using this toy - it ALWAYS works.

The same company also makes a similar toy that's a plastic wand with a long fleece tail...my kitty likes it, but not all cats do. It's only $5, so it might be worth a try.

If you don't want an interactive toy, try one of those bag assortments that has the little mice, crinkly balls, and bell balls. See what they like. You can always rub the toys with catnip if your cats are into that (mine won't touch the stuff).

Many cats enjoy chasing the point of light from a laser pen. You can buy them at pet stores and office supply stores. Be sure not to shine it directly into the cat's eyes. Let them "catch" it from time to time or they will lose interest.
I always have the point of light disappear into the fireplace when I switch it off -- the cats think it lives in there and will wait on the hearth to catch it when it comes back out..

Cats also enjoy chasing a feather or other object on a stick or a string. In fact one of the cheapest cat toys is one that mine enjoy most -- I think it's called a Cat Dancer. It's a few pieces of cardboard (looks like the legs of a big bug) at the end of a length of piano wire. The other end has a sticky pad so you can mount it on a wall. It bounces around and swoops and leaps like it's alive. My cats go bonkers over it.

Another favorite is a glove with very long fingers, with a pompom on the end of each finger. The cat doesn't realize that your hand is inside making it move, and thinks it's a real creature.

The one thing you don't want your cats to play with is your hands. Cats who attack their owners' hands often end up being punished or gotten rid of. Cats don't have much concept of gentle play and don't know when to stop. To them play is practice hunting. Teach them that attacking people is unacceptable....just stop playing or interacting with the cat when it gets too rough, and walk way. Never punish a cat physically. They don't understand the concept and only understand that they are being attacked.

Your cats are probably highly intelligent; a good trick is to rotate their toys and give them a different kind of toy every day or even twice a day. We alternate bouncy springy toys with rolling rattle balls, feather teasers, catnip scruffy chews, vibrating mice, etc. Keep them interested and don't let them get bored. Our cat also enjoys a scrunched up ball of paper-she brings these back for more tosses, and stashes them in the toy basket when she's done playing for the day. We also use the doorknob hanging toys and move them around in the house.

Honest to God, best cat toy I've found works for every breed I've been around for the last 15 years would have to be your average drinking straw with a piece of yarn about 13 inches long tied to the end of it.

They've never been too keen on other toys I've bought for them, but they like those from The Cat Connection. They particularly like the Paw Breakers, Flying Comets, Glitter Critters, and the Rattle Bouncer Rockers with feathers.

They also love laser pointers and the little rings from milk jugs!

Cardboard boxes, they LOVE them! You can hang things inside and cut holes for them to go in and out. Put a wrapper in it for the kitten to bat around. I also found that the rings with the ball inside is always a favorite, even as they get older. Toys with catnip, you can make your own. You can also make your own cat towers and scratchers really cheap and easily, there are tons of designs online. Paper bags (not plastic) are another favorite, if you can find them. Hope this helps!

My late great Boys, Rusty and Scooter, always considered their favorite toy to be a length of rope about eight feet long that I would swish around or drag around for them to chase. Rusty especially liked it when I'd pull it under a small rug so the end would try to escape beneath the edge of the rug.

We used a piece of that clothesline that has nylon fibers inside the rope. With that I could twist one end of the rope and the entire length would roll across the floor.

Scamper strongly recommends those little bouncy balls that look like imitation golf balls. He also likes his birdie fishing pole toy, but the bouncy balls are definitely his favorite.

He especially likes to have me roll them down the stairs for him.

Get several packs; they get lost easily.

They also have a neat fishing pole toy that has interchangeable toys, so you can have several optional toys and only need one fishing pole for them. And you can get replacement birdies and stuff when they get tattered.

My cats all love the peek box I think its called it in the doctor fosters and smith catalog what is is a box with a bunch of holes in it you put toys inside and the kitties try to get them out its really fun to watch them play with it to !!

My cat enjoys balls. They come about 4 or 6 in a package. I open the package and dump them all on the floor at once. She'll roll them all over the house. She'll also carry around a catnip mouse and play with it.

All cats love cat nip. the sad thing about it, is that if you didn't start your cats on toys young...they may just not be into it. My mom tried and tried to get her cat to play with toys for 18 years and he was sooo stubborn about it, he would just rather cuddle.
