Unfortunatly, there is no broad generalization for the amount of calories you should eat. There are recommendations, but they depend on what you want to achieve: weight gain, weight loss, or weight maintanence. If you wanna find a healthy weight range for your age, gender and height, there are tools on the web to help you. Self.com has one, and I believe webmd.com has one as well.

your question is way to general. there is no such thing as an average weight for males and females anymore. one should never eat less than the BMR requires.
