Of course you can't get hired to teach at a Christian college without professing a Christian belief system. They don't want anyone having control of a classroom unless they are teaching what the school believes in. That is the difference in a secular college that does not teach religion other than secular humanism, and a religious college that does teach religion.
We don't want our future preachers taught by people that believe the Bible is a book of myths.
Most Christian organizations do not want any federal funding, because the government would then try to tell them what they can teach.

Hey I worked at a big public university at one point. (I'm a Christian.) Most Christians there felt they had to stay quiet about their faith.
There's lots of anti-Christian bias. Some of it is hostile, most of it very strong, but civil. I managed to openly discuss faith many times - civilly. I was amazed how many folks felt Christians should just keep their faith locked away at home and shouldn't do anything that revealed their faith - but - on the flip side felt other faiths should be open and visible. (This at a place that is supposed to be open to all views.) I'm not sure where those feelings come from. I see that here on this site. I apologize for whatever someone did to make you feel that way.

Yeah, I teach at two of them. Still, you might want to read George Marsden's book The Outrageous Idea of Christian Scholarship or The Soul of the American University.
Have you read the H.L. Mencken biography by Terry Teachout? The author is a devout Roman Catholic.

Take a look at most of the "questions" on this board. They are almost all thinly vieled attempts to bash people of faith, which includes christians. I'd say that claim is justified by that. When people stop bashing, the claim will have no value, until then you are simply fueling it and keeping that claim alive. Well done.

I live in the South and I agree with you. However, if it is not a Christian college...don't bother! You will get the same 'worldly" teachings as any other college! I know, been there and heard that!

I don't claim that US Christians are persecuted, except for kids at school that are picked on, but in other countries they are very much persecuted.
One man I know, he was in the Chinese army, and when they found out he was a christian, they told him to denounce his faith, he wouldn't do it, so they ripped out his fingernails and toenails, he still didn't do it, they put him in prison, still nothing, so they sent him to a mental institution, and still nothing. He is in the states now.
