If he is 5 years old and never had this problem before, it sounds like it could be mites or even ringworm. Both of these are contagious. Ringworms are something that you can get. You really need to get hold of a vet and let them know what the problem is. Maybe you can describe what you are seeing on your cat and he can make suggestions. I would not chance it. Protect you and your cat. Good luck and I hope it all works out. Remember, God always takes care of us. One way or another.

Cats are very good at hiding they are sick. When they get to the point when they are showing obvious symptoms, they need to be taken to the vet as soon as possible. It may be stress. . .But it sounds like a health issue your local vet can diagnose.

Can you tell if he has been losing weight? That is a sure sign something is very wrong. The losing hair thing needs to be addressed by a vet. They can do some quick bloodwork to make sure no cancer/liver problems are going down. They can also check the urine for problems and give him ointment for the fur problems at least. (If they are raw and painful)

Your cat needs to be dropped on the vet, and quickly! The cut back it have been given whilst being trimmed is now maximum in all probability contaminated. meanwhile, to assist it drink and consume, attempt giving it some tuna fish with the tuna water it got here with. be certain to place the tuna in a small bowl so the cat won't cut back that's mouth!, and upload somewhat greater water to it (perhaps a fourth of a cup). good success, i'm hoping the main suitable for you and your cat!

Though there is no such thing as "normal" in a cat as far as cats In general, any change in behavior for a particular cat calls for a trip to the vet pronto!

Your kitty is sick.

You see this on the boards a lot, but there is a reason: Take him to the vet.

He could be allergic to something, or be reacting to heat if you're in a hot area. There are other possibilities, but those come to mind first.

he may have gotten into fiber glass and it got into his skin or a little household cleaner or it could be bad food new ones are popping up everywhere no matter what get his food and take him and the food to the vet if you get there quick enough they may be able to do something and if they can't better off to put him to sleep than let him suffer

That sounds like he's sick I'd suggest a trip to the vet it sounds like it could be a tumor or something to me.
