Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:
Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!
The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.
Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.
Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.
This is a really beautiful poem too!
Women have strengths that amaze us.
They carry children, they carry hardships, they carry burdens but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up for injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without new shoes so their children can have them.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage. Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin!
Women do more than just give birth.
They bring joy and hope.
They give compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have a lot to say and a lot to give.

Make something. A photo collage, a scrapbook, take some home movies from 8mm or VHS and transfer them to DVD (I don't know how to do this, but I had one done at a nearby photo shop. A lot of them do that these days)
If you want to buy something, buy a mother/daughter day of pampering at a spa. This way, she doesn't just go off on her own, but gets to spend a day with you (and you with her)

Do you play an istrument? Play or write her a song. Do you sing? Same thing. Write her a poem. Make her a peice of jewlery from embroidery floss or beads. I know as a mother, anyhting that come from the heart means more than anything store bought.

You could get her a simple wooden-box from Wal-mart (anyone that you think she would like) then buy some paint (thats in a tube) , paint the box and wait for it to dry (it took my box 2 1/2 hours to dry). Then fill the box with hershey's hugs and hersheys kisses in the box. then write this poem on a piece of paper and put it on top of the "hugs and kisses"
Poem: This is a very special box, that only you can see. The reason it's so special it's just for you from me. It's filled with hugs and kisses, as sweet as sweet can be. Just hold the box close to your heart, and you'll always think of me.
Hope this helped, or gave you an idea. ;)

I'm going to clean the entire house and get some nice jewelry for her. Moms LOVE it when you do the chores for her. Also I'm making her a breakfast in bed and will probably go to her favorite restaurant at my father's expense. Let her relax. maybe you could also make a goodie bag with some jewelry, a handmade card by you and a gift card to her favorite clothing store!! Let her relax and don't let her do anything she don't like to do (like cooking, laundry, cleaning etc...). If your mom likes to read you also could get her a good book she'd liketo read. Maybe you also could give her a spa treatment. Also make sure you make a hand made gift. What ever you do make Mommy's day special!
:)

Give her a 10 hour work voucher. Saying Mom 10 hours of my time I am giving to you for Mothers Day.
You can use this time up by asking me to do things for you that normally you don't ask me to do.

The best present you can possibly give her is something that you put love into for her. Something you make for her, or paint for her or create in some way, just for her, will be treasured more than you can believe. It's not how it looks, by the way, it's how it feels.
