Our son went to the doctors today and they think that he has ODD. Our son is only 3 yrs old and a handful. I think that we have done everything to help him but it is getting worse. They gave him medication today until he can go to the Psychiatrist. If there is any other parents out there that have gone through this if you could please respond and give us some helpful information. We feel like we are all out there by ourselves. Please help.

What's he eating and drinking? Some kids really have to stick to basics, like water and plain, plain, whatever food it is (no preservatives, no colored flavorings, etc.) If you can't get him to drink water, flavor it with lemon or organic flavorings. Good luck!

Also, what's happening to him electronically, in his environment? I go nutso around florescent lights. Can't help it! And I'm a teacher, too!

I thought that diagnosis (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) was going to be phased out. It's a silly diagnosis, especially for a three year old.
Ever heard of the terrible twos (/threes)? What about sugar intake- is he sugar crashing? Have you tried behavioral remedies- that would be much better than medication if it works.
The bottom line is, EVERY three year old is a handful.
Find out who is the best child psychologist in town, and make an appointment.
