Not really. It's usually ok to have one glass of wine or something but generally it's not a good idea. Alcohol is a depressant and it's just counteracts the antidepressants. I had a BAD experience drinking on Lexapro. I drank 2 BOTTLES of champagne and a 32 oz of beer and I woke up the next day to a mild seizure and the DTs. My doctor told me it was because my liver function was compromised because of the Lexapro and the alcohol affected me differently. I had horrible withdrawals from it. Be careful and don't drink too much.

Oh hey, you know what? That's a really, really bad idea. Don't drink while you're taking an antidepressant. I know from experience that it can have very unforeseen consequences. And alcohol is a depressant, so it does exactly the opposite of what an antidepressant does...just don't.

Try some chamomile tea if if you need help to relax.

No.

You shouldn't take alcohol with any meds of any type. They all have to be metabolized in the liver, and you're simply putting too big a load on your liver when you do.

That's aside from the fact that alcohol itself is a CNS depressant.

Sure you can , but why would you? if you are depressed and trying to fix it (anti depressant) why would you take a deppresent (booze) to short circuit your treatment? Does that make any sense? Maybe you should think about going and getting some counciling as well.

No alcohol is a depressant and will only make depression worse. I highly suggest against it.
